  1. Something blew out on the transmission on my 2006 Outback, and I am looking to replace the entire transmission. I am hearing mixed stories about whether a 2008 / 2009 A/T will work in a 2006. I have the four speed sport shift version. Gear ratios on the 2006 look to be the same as 2008, so I don't see why a 08 or 09 A/T would not work in a 06. I do suspect the wiring harnesses may be different, as the part number on the 2006/2007 A/T is: 3100AG560 and 2008 has both 3100AH310 or 3100AH350. Has anyone installed a 2008 or 2009 A/T into a 2006 / 2007 ? If so, what if anything needs to be swapped ? Any help will be much appreciated.
  2. Found out that 06 has different connectors on several plugs than 08. If anyone has more info on what wires go where or images, I would be forever grateful.
  3. Does someone have a picture of the connectors ? I have the trip computer in my car which has: Grn/blk, blk/yello, purp, and blu/red wires. Can I splice those for the clock, information sensor, and outside temp ? This is all from the screen side. There is also: brn/yello, grn/yello, blk/red, blk/wht, blk/wht, and twisted together pink/purple, as wellas a gray. All I care about is the navigation, information center, clock, and outside temp. On a side note, too bad the 05 to 09 don't have the weather-band like the earlier models did. Any help would be appreciated.
  4. I installed new carpeting and washed the rest of the trim pieces on my 2006 2.5i. I bought the car in November. The person before me, trashed the interior. Everything heavily grease stained, someone got sick on one seat, stale marijuana (skunky) smell, black mold growing on carpets, etc. Somehow the guy even trashed the seatbelts as well as all moldings and kick plates. Needless to say, it got gutted out and many pieces are new to car. I went to a junk yard on the MA/RI border and got a full leather interior from a 2008 LL Bean, and got the darker wood trim from a 2007 LL Bean, and Frankensteined the dark panels to the ivory interior. Got a Navigation system as well as a MOMO wheel with buttons. Total cost for full interior: $250 !! The connectors on the 2008 cars are ever so slightly different than on 2006, and the a couple airbag wires for the seats are different as well. More converting will be in order tomorrow. Car has coolant leak which will be fixed, and back cat is going to get gutted, as it is plugged. Should be a nice car when done.
  5. Trying to do this on a 2006 2.5i. The base Outbacks have a different radio than the other models, and it looks like this mod can't be done. I plugged in fine to the clock spring and the buttons illuminate with lights on, but the buttons themselves do nothing. I went to the wrecking yard, and came across a 2006 LL Bean (P-201UE) radio, with MPO3, 6 desc CD player, etc. The face plate from the base P-201UN will not fit fit the UE, but the base plate is needed for the manual climate control. To top it off, there are only two connectors near steering column on base model vs three on other models. I am trying something new, I Frankensteined both radios together, and am going back to the wrecking yard again for some wiring looms. I will let you know how it turns out.
