  1. I believe they are ether muxing the left/right channels together to free up an input, or flat out spoofing the position in software on the ECU side. The former makes the most sense to do, as you can combine the sensors with passive components and we have fuel temp sensors in the tank already so that value is kind of pointless.
  2. Epoxy the end tanks onto the spare stock intercooler for now and run at a lower boost level (15 PSI). Then use the motivation to do the air-water intercooler so you can turn up the boost. Or ideally just go straight in with that and a bigger STI compressor housing turbo from day one. You’ll end up happier, and maybe cheaper. That way you can build the thing with all off the shelf components, hopefully reaching the “done” phase faster. This ends up costing less as as you’re not tempted to upgrading each little thing more while you keep tweaking things, turning the car into a money pit with little incremental gains. Used STI takeoffs are fairly cheap, plus there is a sea of inexpensive aftermarket options in the 16/18G range. I’d probably suggest this even if your goal is 250WHP on stock injectors. The entire system will be less stressed than a poor little VF40 with it’s neck rung out like we do on our standard Stage 2 tunes. That’ll give you a more reliable car long run.
  3. I got tagged so I feel like I must reply, even though I’m at 2 years post having an LGT and my old one was killed by a drunk driver. Your plan looks fine, but please look at other options than the AVO intercooler. I had one for a while, and though it was great due to the marketing, but as soon as I instrumented it found that it truly performs horribly. As in somehow significantly worse than the stock intercooler horribly. I was seeing 200F+ temperatures after 2-3 back to back 2nd gear pulls. It’s really worth the spend to go with the Grimmsped one (or its clones) or jump right into the Air-Water setup you mentioned considering. It’ll perform much better and you want be chasing crazy knock events after multiple pulls. Actually come to think about it the AVO might have contributed to when I blew my first motor. It lifted a head after a high speed interstate mountain climb. If it was knocking due to heat saturation that would have done it.
  4. Can’t help with comps, but if you need receipts for the aftermarket parts let me know. I should have them for everything but maybe labor to install things I couldn’t myself, but I probably have half of those as well. At least with Geico they let me apply those towards stuff that was damaged/stolen. Maybe some other form members with ‘06 Legacy GT Limited wagons could post theirs here around $13k (sounds reasonable for a 5mt) and a requirement to sell to be a long standing member and also own an existing 4th gen wagon?
  5. Ouch, sad to see it get taken out like that Hopefully the parts of both wagons can live on in new shells. Sounds like you have a good reason to move the brembos to the white wagon now
  6. Man a year after I sell my car to infosecdad you all finally decide to have an east coast meet. Maybe I can convince him (or his son who I think he said was going to daily it) to let me borrow it to drive it up there
  7. Those Bilstines are actually valved to run as low as the Konis, you just need to replace the springs with the original pink ones in the front. The rear has enough adjustment you can run the longer ones there. Also I seem to remember the clip on #3 breaking at some point. I think I replaced that one, but you might want to clean up the contacts as they probably had some moisture at some point.
  8. This, JDM wagon pinks, or coilover are the correct way to do things. Spaces change the point where the springs block out vs the bump stops (which are mounted to the body) engage. This can cause the springs to block out before the bump stops have fully compressed, which is not good. I had the rear spring mount get knocked off a set of shocks due to this, with only 3/8in spacers. If ride quality is a priority, you can get coil-over sleves for the normal rear shocks. If you run a 9-10in long spring you shouldn't run into any bump travel limitations.
  9. So that's why I haven't been getting IMs asking for explanations of quirks yet
  10. Sold it today. Curious to see what odd things Infosecdad finds about it over the next few weeks
  11. On the WRX/FA20 restromod, the only complication will be canbus/immobilizer related. Last I was digging into things (~2.5 years ago) the older cars and newer ones still used the same general addresses so should talk, but if a given field/message it's expecting isn't there it might get a little pissy. This is solvable as long as you don't have emissions testing in your area. If you do, it's likely still solvable but you'll need some sort of canbus translators or an arduino hanging out on the bus simulating stuff that not there.
  12. Hope everyone is ok! If you're creative enough: almost everything firewall forward. The global platform is still more or less based on the BL/BP in the front. It's not quire plug and play subframes level, but it's not that far if you can do a little fab work. An FA20 swapped '05-'06 wagon would be a nice daily.
  13. You'll have to fight infosecdad for it, I think I finally convinced him to come get it next week On the wagon today: I drove it to grab Korean tonight to make sure everything was still in advertised condition and fill it up with gas. I'm going to miss this thing a lot, but proceeds from it are needed for boring things like a washer and drier at the new house.
  14. AEM fuel pump bucket deal sold. Calling it on the rest of the stuff for as well, I'm out of boxes lol
