Had my car in Wed. and they replaced the relay, said the ECM was still good based on their diagnostic equipment. Now the fan does not run in the AM first thing anymore, but a couple of times has come on after I get off the highway onto back roads on the way to work - temp was like 38 degrees outside & the fan contimued to run for about 6 miles of mellow driving, until I shut it down. I restarted immediately and no fan came on. I may be oversensitive to it now, but I never remembered hearing the fan run on this car before - even in the summertime. Is is possible the ECM is toast even though the dealer says it's OK (of course anything is possible)? In general terms, when should the fan run & for how long, assuming that it's relatively cool out & you're just cruising around? Subie tech guys - any input?

OK - now my fan runs constantly from start up to shut down. Looks like I should unmarry that Accessport after all, no?

At the risk of asking a stupid question, what are the chances that a dealer will replace an ECU on a car with "no fans" running? I want to get this taken care of but have precious little free time & don't want to unmarry and remarry if not necessary. Sounds like it's the only way to be sure I won't lose the ECU, aside from telling the dealer NOT to replace it w/o my authorization...

Spotted white LGT wagon heading up Stow Rd. in Boxborough, turned right on Burroughs road. I had my kid in the car & you were moving a little too fast to get a good look but I think you had an aftermarket CBE - possibly lowered - actually all LGT's look lowered compared to my OBXT
