  1. Does anyone have any experience with Detroit Axle CV Axles? Link here Pretty affordable and I've had a positive experience with their wheel bearings (15k on the front left hub and still going strong) Also: I know some people have had good luck in the past with the AutoZone 7336 remanufactures, however looking at their site it seems like they are no longer available. However, they do have new axles with the part number 7336N. Anyone have experience with the brand new version? Thanks

  3. Thanks to OP and the other commenters in this thread. Did my rear DS wheel bearing this weekend and this made it pretty straightforward (or, would have...) Like some other poor rust belt saps, removing the original hub assembly from the knuckle was a complete PITA. They were basically fused together with rust. First, I tried using a 3 arm puller to separate them - total failure. The arms on the puller actually started bending rather than pulling the hub off. After that, I switched to a 5lb slide hammer. This worked pretty quickly (or so I thought)... except it actually separated the front and rear halves of the bearing assembly, leaving the rear half seized to the knuckle/backing plate. Once that happened, my last resort was to remove the entire e-brake assembly, and use a combination of a torch + 8lb sledge to beat the shit out of the assembly until it finally cracked loose. Hallelujah! Installation was pretty easy, and I used this excellent guide to reassemble the brake assembly and get that working properly again. I used a Detroit Axle unit (~ $45) and it seems great so far - nice and quiet and no ABS light. Think I'll take it a shop for the right side...
  4. Thanks for the reply. I believe he has up to 100 miles free towing then it's on his dime after that. It's actually the 92-X Linear so its NA, no turbo involved. It's looking like he found a shop in Pittsburgh and is getting it towed there. Probably for the best as he has family there who can help take care of things as he has to be back in Detroit for work
  5. Anyone have a good recommendation for a reputable indy shop near (within 50-100 miles) of Youngstown, OH? A good friend of mine was driving from Detroit to Pittsburgh for the holidays and his car (2005 92-X) broke down along the way. The (non-subaru) shop it was towed to is telling him there is no compression in cylinders 1 and 3 and wants $5,000 for a new engine... Any ideas where he could get it towed that would be a little more Saabaru friendly?
  6. Follow up on this: are Rallitek springs available new still? I found these on the website, but the description seems pretty vague. 1998-2009 outback and legacy? Is this really what people are using? http://rallitek.com/springs/5634-rallitek-overload-springs-1998-2009-outback-legacy.html
  7. This isn't a very original question I'm sure, but I'm looking to refresh my stock LGT suspension and would like some advice. My car is an 05 wagon, totally stock as the moment. It is my daily driver and I really like it thus far, but I'm coming from a modified E46 and would like the car a to sit a little lower and be a little more predictable. For budget reasons, I'm planning on getting KYB struts all around and have narrowed my spring options down to the following: Tein H-Tech or Rallitek. From what I've read both should drop the car ~ 1" without making the ride too harsh. I plan on pairing whichever spring I decide on with the 1/4" saggy butt spacers. Any opinions on this? One over the other? Best vendor for either? Pics of either setup on a wagon? Thanks all
  8. Damn you all, I wish I never found this thread. I just bought an 05 LGT and sure enough, after seeing this thread I saw the gap staring right back at me. Has anyone replaced this part on their own? I'm well past any warranty coverage and don't want to pay the dealer for something so minimal.
