  1. So I have a 1999 Legacy GT (2.5) that has a clunky 4eat transmission. Currently the transmission is puking ATF everywhere and I'm having a hard time pinpointing the leak but it appears to be coming primarily from between engine/transmission mating surface and between trans/transfer case mating surface. Seeing how the transmission has the common forward delay issues and now clunks between all gears (used to only be between 1st and 2nd but now clunks between all gears as well as premature and violent downshifts) I figured I would just replace the transmission as well as the torque converter. I found a low mileage transmission with 50k miles on it. I can change the transmission no problem but I have never dealt with a torque converter. I'm going to fork out the $750 for the factory torque converter (unless anybody knows of a proven alternative). Does anybody know of all of the seals/gaskets needed to get this job done? Is a new flex-plate needed? New bolts? And is there a good walk-through for this floating around anywhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated my legacy GT only has 125k miles on it and I want to make the transmission shift nice again (as nice as possible for an older 4eat that is). Thanks again for any help/advice.
