  1. I swapped my 05 OBXT to a 6MT from a spec B. I don't think I ever got cruise control working. I am now trying to swap this over to a new 08 AT body I just got. I can't get any answers on this yet so I'll ask here. For an 08, do you still ground an ecu AT/MT identifier pin and flash the computer to an MT version from the same year? Or does the 08/09 32 bit ecu and newer canbus platform prevent this method from working? 05-09 often referred to as synonymous, but there was a big change to 08/09, and I can't speak to the 07 transition year. Anyway, I'd love to have a successful 6MT on my new 08 OBXT. I'd love some direction. Thanks!
  2. I swapped a spec B transmission and rear end into my 05 OBXT. I've now removed all parts from the 05, cut up the body and recycled it this past week. I have a clean 08 OBXT AT to transfer everthing into now. What is the best method to rectify the electronics - ie everything about the swap after the mechanics are solid. For example, should I ground an ECU pin and flash the ecu to a spec B MT version from the same year? Definitely wanting to maintain stock systems such as cruise control, ABS etc. Sitting by grateful for assistance. I've reached out to many places already and so far only received a mixed bag full of uncertainty. I swapped to 08 desiring of the faster ecu and canbus but am hoping it's not going to hurt me.
  3. Well it worked out great in fact. Took most of a Saturday to do a nice job with just running the 2 wires. Fender grommet top position, down the drivers side. Tucked by the B pillar by the drivers seat belt bottom without disturbing the look or function of the area. The plastic shrouds that are stapled to the carpet and run the length of the door jams needed sections cut out. I mostly followed the fuel rails. I even ran a boost gauge line while I was at it :-)
  4. I'm going to try the fender well grommet routing method and down the drivers side with 2 1/0 wires for a trunk battery. Wish me luck. If anyone has a better idea let me know. It could be beneficial to set up a protected route under the car for alcohol injection line, oil accumulator and battery lines. But you know, all of these options are difficult.
  5. When I go to the gas station, most of the time they'll tell me to turn off my car. Sometimes they'll come at me kind of hostile. Every time I politely say my car is off; it's a radiator fan. It draws a lot of power when sitting with the key on. It's annoying; not so relaxing. --- On another note, with my post above yesterday, on my phone I didn't realize this thread had many pages to it. So I only read the first page. I have more to learn about the circuit. I'm guessing I'll likely need to find an alternative control method but still utilize factory relays. I took apart the main #1 relay and #2. Tested #1 and got some nice clicks out of it on a spare battery with it's cover removed. Tested the main connection as well.. Then realized you're guaranteed to have #1 good if your fan comes on with the key on.. Took that for me to learn.. Buying a new #2 relay later today, but not hopeful for it to fix anything. I'll do more research, but it seems like #1 and #2 relays control the 2 fans independently? 1 can be on, then the second when more cooling is needed? Anyway, I just want to be quiet, not draw unnecessary current and not overheat.
  6. Old thread but a good one and very relate to to me. I just called a dealer and they said my VIn is effected. Read the procedure and and according to it my ECU is bad. The dealer said they no longer honor this recall. Ie it would be out of pocket for all repairs. So, does anyone have advice? The only way my drivers side fan turns off is if I pull both 25 amp fuses. If either fuse is in, the drivers side fan will run when the key is on. 05 OBXT I have a JDM climate control pod, access port v2, o5 LGT radiator fans. Pretty sure I can’t count the years this has been an issue and predates the climate control pod and AP. Could have been around the time I did a 6 speed swap or the many times I open source tuned my ECU or the MT ECU jumper. In fact, would it help to flash the ECU back to stock then marry it to the AP again? Could it be the flashing of a MT LGT spec B ROM? I’m not aware of any reliable aftermarket radiator fan control mechanisms. But it’s been over 10 years since I checked. All in the past led to serious problems. Switches and a relay… I’m picking up 82501AG120 tomorrow (#2 fan relay). Hoping that’s the new one. Didn’t read super clear to me if it’s the old or the new. Gambling w the part number, and the new relay doing any good. Installed or not installed, my existing one made no difference.
  7. I see you both have 05/ 06 LGT's and is perfectly applicable to my car and trans. Any luck with the TCU delete? Was can bus speedo and cruise control something you could keep working without the TCU?
  8. Which cars does this apply to? Is it just me or was that left out of the entire conversation? Personally I'm curious about 05 OBXT 5AT to 06 LGT-B 6MT. I looked into this years ago and even shoved a wire into an ecu pin and grounded it. I assume I did a bad job. Now that I'm trying to do a better job, I'd like to be a little more certain. Getting in there for wiring up my own neutral safety switch. Amazing how I could have 5 good years of driving with my swap without ANY transmission wiring.
  9. This is my exact question as well. Would love it if someone could help out!
  10. So I decided I'd take mine apart and see about doing this. I got the circuit board on my desk in front of the guide and this thread. I didn't realized the two outer knobs are already separate boards with jumper wires. But now I get that the hard work is super tiny wires. Hats off to you guys. I draw the line at solder work that small. My questions above would be nice to know about still though.
  11. Has anyone already identified what the climate actuators actually need to be driven for making a diy control? Are they connected with the can bus system in some way that ruins everything? Stepper controlled gates? Ultimately I'm thinking, fan, hot and cold heat exchangers, and some gates to modulate air flow paths. Sigh. What about using the non-turbo manual controls. What about this doesn't work?
  12. I am thrilled that I have this pdf from that link! It's not even signed! Pure genius and skill! Wow, thank you to whoever put that together and fantastic job! Here I am looking at another Parrot MKI9000 refurbished unit after I was rocking one for a few years that finally broke. Not wanting another temporary stereo solution. Converting to a standard double din available form factor is the way to go. It's hard to justify $300+ just for correcting Subarus design that ignores a large customer base with their integrated climate and stereo. I see what people say and do, but being a pretty capable risk taker with now a long history of time consuming car mods, I basically thought I'd figure out what no one could.. Then I see this thread with that pdf in the link and that I was beaten to it. Honestly, I would not have gone to those lengths and been successful pioneering that! I've worked in automotive engineering test centers for 2 big names and I can say that doesn't help At All for anything like this. Each company does something unique on all their models and we modifiers get lucky when certain trends or compatibilities are found. I think my wife would hate me more if I followed these steps considering the time it would take me. Still glad to have the instructions in hand though! Totally left torn with what to do. For now I just have a bluetooth board connected to an amp. Which works, but sometimes volume is an issue.
