  1. Sorry to hear that. I wasn't having the issue on my door panels, just the dash. I also wasn't having the issue when I received the notice either. It started happening a few years after that. So I did a little digging and looked at the ppw for the repair and it reminded me what happened. I called Subaru of America when it started happening and asked about a recall, which they weren't ale to find. Turns out, they were extending the warranty for this specific issue to certain legacy owners that may be having this issue. So on my repair order its listed as "warranty". Because it was 3-4 years after I received the notice, it took some convincing, but they still replaced it. I'd say give Subaru of America a call and see how far you get.
  2. It was a bad ignition coil. I was getting sporadic Cylinder 3 misfire codes (P0303). Apparently, according to a Subaru, these just go bad after time. Easy fix.
  3. I got the recall notice years back but didn't actually see the problem until about 2 years ago, but they still honored it with some convincing. However, it wasn't technically a recall. They called it something else, but came to me as a recall. The dash material starts to degrade and turn "sticky". Everything stuck to it (dust hair, whatever). Couldn't just wipe stuff off. Now I have a brand new dash, which was nice for an OCD person like me that likes a clean dash
  4. Fixed. Thank you. Didn't realize windows had that option in Photo editor. Easy enough.
  5. Having trouble uploading pics. They don't make it easy.
  6. *****Apologies to all that reached out, but this is no longer for sale. I will re-post again come spring. I will also take this listing down once I figure out how I have babied this car since the day of purchase. I never raced this car, never red-lined it never off roaded. To be honest, this car has been wasted on a ohttps://legacygt.com/forums/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=6046030verly cautious driver. I have done a bit of after market modifications, but when I did the pro-tune I was very particular and asked that the tune can be done with health and life of the car as the number 1 consideration. It is a modest tune and if you so desired, can be re-tuned and get quite a bit more juice out of the modifications I have done. Reason for selling: As you can tell with the note above about the modest tune, my number 1 priority was to keep this car happy and healthy so I could drive it as long as possible. However, we just had a new baby, my wife cant drive 5-speed and we need both cars in the family to be interchangeable. So she just got a new Subaru Outback XT and I may be inheriting her old car or getting another. I'll miss my legacy without a doubt but I'll be able to scratch that turbo itch with the Outback XT . 7. Pictures Incoming. Anyone have an idea where I should post to sell that is not facebook? I dont think people really use CL anymore and its been a long time since I've sol a car.
  8. Its a great point you make. There are no cars anywhere and now more and more dealers are charging over MSRP. I actually asked the General Manager Im working with about all that and told me he's trying everything he can to not do that, but hes getting to a point where he might have to. They arent getting enough inventory to make enough profit to cover cost. Hes not quite there, but was super transparent. He could sell this used outback for 39,650. Thats what it would go on the lot for and we agreed on $35,500 and hes resetting the bumper to bumper to 3 year 36k miles, giving me a 7 year 100k power train for free and said he would only charge me $1,100 for the B2B 7 year 100k warranty. He is actually giving me a pretty good deal and trying to make their F-up right. Its not like an amazing, blow my socks off deal, but considering the car buying environment, I think its pretty generous. I coul dbe wrong. Hard to know what to compare a "good deal" to these days.
  9. This is good to hear. I was thinking 8k, but that's because I value my car pretty highly and think its "special" and "semi-rare", but everyone overvalues their vehicles even when they are crappy. I personally dont mind taking my time selling it so that's prob what I will do. It would be great to have the extra cash to throw at a new car, but I'm fine not doing that and getting as much as I can for it.
  10. Its 2021 Outback XT Limited with 6k miles that was the loaner car they gave me while they fix the VIN plate issue. I asked what they would sell it to me for and they said 36k even. They are also going to reset the warranty as if it was a brand new car purchase as well. I thought 36k was a decent offer but I'm working on getting them down to 35k, which would make me feel a bit better about not be able to chose exactly what I want (color, options etc). They dont have any outback on the lot or on the way either so I wouldn't be able to anyways.
  11. Surprisingly enough I haven't taken any photos of the car in the last 8-9 years. I'm going to clean it up once I get it back from Subaru and take some then.
  12. Hi Everyone, I was hoping I could get some thoughts and suggestions from my fellow legacy owners out there. We just had our first kid and its time to get my wife a new car. We are likely going to buy an 2021 Outback XT limited. The predicament I'm in is, should I trade in my legacy GT or keep it and sell private party. I would love to keep my legacy and trade her car in, but my wife cant drive stick and we need both cars to be interchangeable between us both. Subaru offered me 6k to trade it in for, which is very generous offer that they are giving for reasons Ill put in a short blurp below (please read as this may impact price). I am almost positive I can get a lot more for my car private party, but I wanted to get a realistic perspective from the community. It may just be easier to take a small loss for the convenience of giving it to a dealer. Below are some details about the car. I have done very light and tasteful mods to my car which are all less than 15kmiles old. I truly have treated this car like my baby since the day I bought it. Never beat it, never raced it, never red-lined it, never off roaded with it. The only time I would get on the gas a bit was on the highway, but that was extremely minimal b/c Im a wimp and never wanted to beat on my car Model: 2008 Legacy GT Limited Condition: Very good but expected wear and tear for a 13 year old car. This was a recall that they extended for me as the issue showed up later Modification which are less than ~15k mile old: probably less Pro-tune: completed by Tuning Alliance Turbo: replaced with re-built VF52 that had less that 12k miles on it before rebuild. Polished, ported, ceramic coated and new billet wheel installed Fuel injectors: 750cc DeatschWerk Injectors Boost controler: Grimspeed Intercooler: Grimspeed Downpipe: Cobb Uppipe: Invidia Fuelpump: DeatschWerks 265 LPH Compact Fuel Pump Mods older than 15k, These are all at the same time around 30-40k miles ago: Struts: Konis Springs: H&R Top hat: Whiteline Subaru story: As you can see in the above recall I mentioned, Subaru replaced my dashboard. However, they did not put my VIN plate back and I did not realize this until I went to do my emissions (1 month ago) and I was unable to. Long story short, they are dealing with the problem with the DMV. I wont have a VIN plate anymore but there will be a special decal that DMV installs to take the place of the original VIN and some special document that you keep with the car. Something like that. They are trying to take care of me because of their F-up by giving me a good trade in and a decent deal on a new car either of which I can take or not take. They will buy my car, sell me a new one individually or both. I think they realize I can probably make this a big deal and want to offer a deal so I dont.
  13. Hey all, My '08 Legacy GT started having issues the other day. I got on the highway and noticed that I was lacking in power. Got to a red light and car started shaking and acting like it wanted to stall out and check engine light went on and cruise control was blinking. I happened to be right down the street from the Subaru dealership so I brought it in and the guys told me it seemed like it was a vacuum leak (which I had presumed myself) so I brought it home and took everything apart that I could, put it back together nice and snug. I took it out for a test drive and there was no difference. Check engine light went on. Hooked it up to the Cobb and checked the codes. Everything pointed to MAF sensor, vacuum leak, O2 sensor etc.... Also cylinder 1,2,3,4 misfires. After this I was pretty convinced it was my MAF sensor, seeing I had already suspected it was going bad based on some previous other strange, random behavior. The common test I used was, turn the car on and while its idling (badly), pull the plug off the sensor. If it turns off, the sensor is good. If it continues running and the idle bumps up and it runs better, the MAF is bad. Result: The car stayed on and actually idled quite stable. I went and bought a new MAF direct from Subaru, installed it and the the car would continue crank, turn over and immediately shut off. This is what I did to troubleshoot: 1. Pulled the plug off the MAF and attempted to start. The car turns over right away and has a stable idle. 2. Connected the Cobb AP and reset the ECU. Plugged the MAF back in and attempted to start. Turns over and immediately shuts off. 3. Unplugged MAF, pulled the ground cable off the battery and let sit for 30 minutes. Plugged MAF back in and tried to start again with the same results. 4. Put the old MAF back on and tried to start and has the same results as the new one. Before putting the new one on, I didn't had a problem starting the car with the old MAF on. Now it wouldnt start at all. In every scenario, the car always starts and runs with the MAF unplugged. Based on the issues, I don't feel like there is a mechanical or electrical issue here. I feel like it has something to do with the ECU recognizing the new hardware, but I could be wrong. Any help would be greatly appreciated all! Thank you! Tony
