  1. cayman is much better car. almost bought one before getting the 86. 86 is definitely light on cargo space. although it will haul everything you need for a track day including 4 tires. it qualifies for the "small" car discount on the washington ferry system too. lapping is tuff in a wagon. heavy car is painful on brakes. if cruzin is your thing, the wagon is pretty much perfect. Wife and I did alot of trips in mine
  2. it's probably time to find a serious car hobby. Have you tried autox or, gasp, lapping? btw, love the look of your wagon. The flex c/o should be alot of fun. get an alignment and corner balance when you are done. It really makes a difference. I drove a "slammed" wagon for alot of years. Suspension travel was practically nil unless heavily G loaded. Never let age interfere with your right to smile doing something fun. My gr86 is the most impractical road-legal car I've ever owned or driven. I still smile like an idiot driving it.
  3. Hmm wonder if that was the trip I did. A gr86 doesn't fare well when the road you used to flog your turbo wagon on turns into a gravel pit for miles.
  4. @ElijahHooper - depending on the dealership you work at, there will be a master engine tech who can tell you everything you never wanted to know about swaps. Make friends with them. They have every tool you'll ever need. And knowledge you can't afford to buy. The master tech at the dealership I worked at had built 1000's of engines. More of a testament to the quality problems of Subaru... A twin turbo subie is a money pit. Even more than a single turbo. There's a reason so many ended up in junkyards. you can buy a wrx full drivetrain for less than it will cost to get the twin turbo working
  5. Ferry? are you on the pennisula? or the islands? I can attest to @Febreze Mee driving his "turbo look" non turbo wagon like it was meant to be driven. After a couple days hooning the backroads I started looking for a replacement for my wagon that I sold.
  6. You know breakin happens in the first 10 miles or so? Although you probably want to put a few more miles on it. The olde days of needing 1000 miles before hammering on a car are long past. Regardless, 70mph is acceptable. Thanks, David.
  7. I'd be up for that. Wasnt @Enlight the one who found the brekky place last year?
  8. So it turns out consuming epic quantities of sourdough bread (Mrs Boxkita brought home a 100year old sourdough starter from her trip to Alaska last year) can force you, er, me into a mild gluten allergy. Along the way, I got a mild salt issue. I'm pretty sure a lifetime of eating poorly has finally come home to roost. I did enjoy it, though. At any rate, Ive become a salt free chicken and salad person. Breakfast is yogurt and fruit. That said, I'm willing to take part in all culinary adventures except Sprank's meat sweat experience. Mrs Boxkita has been teaching me to fend for myself in the kitchen, however, my contribution to the effort may only be a credit card and basic prep. blah, blah...if there wasn't drama in my life, I'd be dead. Driving to breakfast should happen a couple times, minimum. I'll talk to David about getting a second set of keys to the wrx while Jeni sleeps in. I'm pretty sure he will be done with breakin by the time I get there. I forget if there are any coffee snobs. I can throw a couple pounds of non-Starbucks in my bag.
  9. We can swap the rack from the ascent over. I still think we can get all the boats on the wrx. Im planning on a carry-on unless I'm bringing a box of subie parts. Still I'll make it so we can pack the parts in a kayak.
  10. Although to Mike's point, 800 beers was probably too many. Apparently the average age of attendees was not in-line with frathouse quantity of beer. Access to a lake, probably will help with consumption ratios. what do I know, I was so hammered/stoned i couldn't set up my tent all weekend
  11. Is it too early to start with the beer list ?
  12. tldr; more turbo is like more cowbell, never enough! Maybe you need a set of stage 3 heads from iag to take advantage of the extra air pressure, too. As much as I would like to bring the gr86 to spank every car there, I'm pretty committed to walking upright for the foreseeable future. Catching a ride to ECM with @JJBerk will stretch the limit of right hand car riding I can do. I'm pretty sure me driving the Ascent will be a no-go at the glen. Perhaps the lead-foot owner will be do it. She's out of the country at the moment, so I'll just commit for her. Watching everyone else drive by, I'll take video for you. If you like, I can add racecar noises for you, too..
  13. if you can't get a set from @KZJonny, i've set already machined in my shop. i'll dig up pics and specs.
  14. What a good looking car, Dave!
