  1. Really? Have you done this on your own car and compared the difference so that you know that the heat shield is useless? You're entitled to your own opinion, but stating for a fact that it doesn't work if you've never seen it first hand is just ignorant. Believe me when I say that there is a HUGE difference in temperature between the engine bay and the intake area. Maybe if you're sitting still and revving the engine, there will be some hot air sucked in, but if you're moving at all, the air in the intake compartment is constantly being replaced through the stock "scoop" and from under the car into the "drug-smuggling area". The heat shield keeps virtually all of the heat from the engine bay separate from the intake.
  2. A cold air intake would have more intake, but this is better than stock and a lot cheaper than a cold air intake. Also, this doesn't require a tune whereas a CAI does. Plus the wicked awesome whooshing and BOV sounds that you now get to enjoy every time you put your foot down. If you're asking if there is any power increase, I've never dynoed my car, but I would doubt there is much. For me it was more that it looks good, sounds good, and was really cheap and fun to do.
  3. Dude how the hell did you put halo rings in your headlights like that?
  4. That's why I put the piece of lexan (clear polycarbonate) between the intake and the engine. http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54825&d=1215548988 Also, I would recommend leaving the scoop in place that redirects air flow to the intake http://legacygt.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=54827&d=1215548988
  5. Mine is in 1st or 2nd, sometimes 3rd, and much worse when taking a corner. I don't have to be accelerating hard at all, just speeding up slightly.
  6. Exedy OEM Clutch with racing flywheel - $600 Labor to install it - $300 HID 6000K and DDE's - $250 after shipping Accessport - came with car Downpipe - gutted Intercooler screen and open induction cover - $50 Ebay Grill - $70 after shipping Clear and black out headlights - free So $1270 plus the items used in the installs like paint. My wife still thinks it's too much!
  7. Here is another type of intercooler screen DIY: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91606
  8. I did it similar to CSTMIZR, but I used a clear polycarbonate instead of an ABS and I ended up putting it on the inside. Hindsight I could have left it out completely if I had used corner braces on all 4 inside corners. I like the look of the steel mesh, so I used that as well. I also used the leftover polycarbonate (lexan or duraplex or something like that from HD) as a heat shield which works incredibly well. There is a huge temp difference on the intake side. I also made an Intercooler screen with the same style of frame. I have a walk-through of how I did that here: http://www.legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=91606
