1. Decided not to do a head-unit swap after all. Selling an unused JDM dual-zone HVAC unit, faceplate adapter, JDM hazard switch (used), i88 & i85 harness adapters and the Subaru antenna adapter (http://ae64.com/images-e41/Subaru_antenna_adapter.jpg) from ae64.com, and a 14-pin OEM adapter harness. None of these items have been installed, other than the JDM hazard switch is a pull from some car (has some wear on the white paint). I bought the harness and antenna adapters from directly David at ae64.com, and the JDM parts from someone else. I am not certain the i85 harness includes steering-wheel control wires. It has 3 wires, which I believe is only for AUX port functionality. I'm pretty sure I did not request SWC functionality when I ordered it. I know his newer i85 harnesses always include SWC, but I think I bought mine before he started doing that. Asking price is $400 shipped in USA. (Inquire with me for Canada, as I'm not sure what the additional postage would be). Everything included This shows the HVAC unit with the i88 adapter harness plugged into it
2. After buying a new car I decided to forego some of the upgrades I had planned for my Outback, including installing these. This is a pair of Spec.B rear trailing arms which have both had new OEM bushings installed, front and rear. The sway bar mount brackets are included on these, with new bolts. Not much else to say. Price is $500 shipped, but local pickup is an option for $450 if you're near Portland, Ore.
3. Bought this from a salvage yard somewhere far away. Eventually found a pair of them to buy rather than just a matching pass. side one, so this is an extra that I have no use for. It's prob pretty high miles, but the bushings aren't too bad on it. This is missing the bracket to attach the rear sway bar link. I think they didn't realize when they pulled the part that it should have stayed with it. The part can still be bought from Subaru: Suspension Trailing Arm Bracket (left) and it's shockingly cheap. You'll also need the three bolts that attach it. Asking price is $90 shipped.
4. I had no problem putting one of these in my 2009 Outback. All of the controls have to be swapped over unless the STi ones are an exact match for your car's existing set (my 3.0R has identical controls to the STi wheel that's pictured above, and I was able to use the black controls from one like it, which are a much better match to my interior than the silver crap that comes stock). The 2005-2007 models had a specific lever for the cruise control that was eliminated in 2008, and a few other differences that make it so an '05-07 does indeed require some extra work.
5. Any recommendations on shops in Tucson, AZ? Gibbs Automotive has been great so far, so I can recommend them, but they aren't Subaru-specific. Body shop recommendations in particular would be really helpful.
6. PM replied. I decided to hold off on selling this for now. I'm re-considering doing the swap, pending more info about the difference in feel between using a Grimmspeed brace (which I have) and having this booster/MC setup installed.
7. HA! This is great. Got the band back together again! It's fun resurrecting old DIY's for a later generation of modders. I'm just glad Monkiboy posted the whole saga on another forum so it's still available. Monkiboy, did you already have a Grimmspeed M/C brace installed, before you did the swap? I'm curious how the two compare because I had decided against doing the swap (I have the parts but am reluctant to deal with the line adjustments). I'm on the verge of selling the booster/MC I have but I'm now having second thoughts. I have the Grimmspeed brace and it does a good job of making the brakes feel more solid, but I'm wondering what I could get if I do the full monty...
8. I got this to do the booster/MC upgrade on my Outback, then discovered that because I have VDC, the lines are larger and won't fit this master cylinder without an adapter, and doing that makes it harder to get everything to fit properly. That complicates everything enough that I decided to pass on the swap. Items are now for sale. I got these from a wrecked WRX with about 80K miles on it, in western WA state. Price is $100 shipped, or $75 if you either pick up or I drop off to you (Portland area or western WA only - I go to Seattle periodically for work and can arrange to meet).
