  1. I tried the SL1 LEDs in my '19 Legacy and did not like them. The light seemed to be all over the place except straight ahead where I needed it. I ended up with a set of HIDs similar to what I had on a '10 Camry I used to own. HIDs have a few drawbacks including a somewhat limited life span and the warm-up time, but at least I can see better than the factory halogens.
  2. OK, here's how to make the 2018 Legacy OEM fog light kit work on the 2019 model. As with any electrical work, be sure to DISCONNECT THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE before starting! Follow the instructions that are readily available online (but they don't come with the kit.) The wiring for the lights themselves is there and the relay and fuses were already installed. When you get to the switch, there is NO "prearranged connector" for it. I searched for hours for it and the dealer couldn't find it either. They simply told me that the kit wouldn't work on the 2019 and there was no "correct" kit available for it. Not being one to accept defeat so easily, I bought the service manual (in .pdf form) and studied the wiring diagrams. I found that the wiring for the lower-dash switch (if it's there) simply parallels the wiring for the ring type switch on the signal / headlight switch stalk. I pulled off the lower steering column shroud and sure enough, the wires for the fog switch were there. I jumped across them and the fog lights came on and worked just as designed. On with the low beams (auto or manual mode) off with the high beams. The green indicator next to the speedometer lights up when the fogs are on. I used a "fox and hound" cable tracer to find the white wire from the switch. It reappears in a black, 32-pin connector on the rear of the under-dash fuse & relay panel, on the bottom right looking from the driver's seat. The wire is white, at the bottom of the connector next to a yellow wire. I used a posi-tap (I HATE the Scotch Lock type taps!) and brought a wire to the area of the switch. The other 3 connections needed for the fog switch can be tapped off the trunk opener button. The kit comes with a short pigtail that connects between the fog switch and the missing harness connector. Cut off the harness end and connect the wires from the switch as follows: White to the wire you brought from the back of the fuse panel (to relay); Blue to the Black wire on the trunk button (switch ground); Red to the Green wire on the trunk button (switch backlight hot); Black to the Brown wire on the trunk button (backlight ground). The instructions say to install the fog switch in the bottom row, far right of the lower-dash switch panel, but that position was taken by one of the Eye Sight buttons on my car. The second spot from the left was empty so I put it there. My car is a 2019 (U.S.) Legacy 2.5i Premium with the all weather package and Eye Sight. Other models should be similar, but your mileage may vary.
  3. I bought the 2018 Legacy fog kit. The lights themselves are LEDs similar to the factory fogs on the '18 and '19 Legacy. Everything fits nicely onto the '19 model except for one major issue: there is NO connector for the switch under the dash. Not plugged into a switch blank, not taped up to a harness somewhere, nothing. I spent hours looking for it. Being a communications tech, I used a "fox & hound" cable tracer to find the trigger wire for the relay in the engine compartment fuse / relay panel. It plugs into a connector on the back of the under dash fuse box and needs a ground to pull the relay in. If I ground it, the fogs stay on continuously with other lights, ignition, everything else off. The fog light indicator on the dash does not light. Looks like I'm going to have to get a wiring diagram and make up a custom harness as I'd rather not start cutting wires on a brand new car! Has anyone else run into this?
  4. I did find the connectors behind the bumpers for the lights themselves. I pulled down the lower dash, but was not able to locate a connector for the switch. All the connectors on the switch cluster are plugged into active switches.
  5. It took me most of a weekend of playing around with it to get it to work at all and I'm not sure what I did. It's still flaky. Sometimes the voice directions come over the car speakers, sometimes not.
  6. Hi all, I've done some searching here but haven't found anything about my specific question. I would like to add fog lights to my 2019 Legacy Premium. There is a kit from Subaru that fits the 2018 model and it's available from most of the usual online vendors. However, I have emailed and called several vendors and local dealers and none of them can tell me if this kit will fit the '19 model or if there's a different kit for it. One thing that concerns me is that I popped off the cover of the engine compartment fuse/relay panel and found that the relay and fuses for the fogs are already in place. I kind of wonder if they have re-purposed that spot for something else? I did find here that it's cheaper to buy the parts piecemeal than as a kit, but I guess the major question here is whether the bezels/covers/inserts from the '18 Legacy will fit the '19. I can pretty much wing it with everything else. TIA
  7. My Galaxy S9 in an Otterbox fits in there perfectly, diagonally. It sits there upside down while plugged into the car for using the nav via Android Auto.
