  1. Hey guys, Looking to beef up my 5 speed dual range box in my outback (Australia)- does anyone know if wrx/sti 5 speed synchros/bearings are able to be swapped into my gearbox as I'm looking to reliably handle H6 power but would be awesome to keep the dual range instead of swapping in a 6 speed box - just want to see if anyones attempted this before. I've read that both boxes are very similar but can't find much information on the size and part numbers for synchros bearings for either transmission. I'm betting the US guys with outback XT's use a similar transmision to mine with the dual range box with stronger synchros/bearings from the wrx/legacy gt to handle turbo power but I am unsure about this too as we never got these in Aus. Cheers guys
  2. Yeh I know the sohc are not really worth messing with I'm gonna put a 6 cylinder
  3. Thanks for the advice I'll keep my eyes peeled for some turbo airboxes
  4. Hey guys, Has anyone had experience replacing stock airbox with aluminium bends? I just got a bunch of 3" bends and a 3" k@n air filter I am just worried as there is a few vaccuum lines and plugs that come from the airbox I am assuming MAF? I have seen others cut parts of the airbox but most retain the main box that connects to the throttle body but that part on my car has cracked. I was thinking of running pipe striaght from the thottle body to the k@n. I am not too fussed about performance but I just wanted to have a solid intake that will not crack in the future - I was going to rock one when i swap the 3.0/3.6 in but my airbox is failing now even after I tried to repair it with screws. Does my 2004 Outback 2.5i ej253 have MAF or MAP? and if so, how do I address this issue wit the new intake - I have seen 3" aluminium MAF adaptors but unsure if I need one. I can take care of the vacuum lines with a few holes and some bungs but the MAF has got me worried. My car is Australian market btw.
  5. Hey guys, My stock intake is cracked and I want to make a custom intake with some 3" aluminium bends - Is my outback MAF or MAP and if so does that affect my intake? My car is australian delivered with the ej253 sohc does anyone have any info on fitting a custom intake and if it required swapping over stuff from the oem one because I can see a hose and some sensor in the stock airbox. I'm not too concerned with power, jus want to replace my oem with something solid and I can get bends for cheap - can't find many options for n/a intakes either. Cheers
  6. Hey lads, I have an Aussie spec 05 2.5i Outback Bp - the airbox has cracked and is sounding really loud I tried reparing before but I think its truly had the biscuit - Was thinking if I am going to replace it might get something a little spicier. Does anyone have experience using an aftermarket intake on n/a ej253? I got a quote from Cosmo Racing in US but the shipping is about double the cost of the intake. If anyone has a local option that theyve had success with would be awesome. I was curious to see if anyone has done custom intakes before - I understand the factory shape the airbox that way for a reason but I don't understand why i can't find 3 inch pipe and route my own intake? chuck a k&n and be sweet?
  7. Can front and rears use spec b top hats? I bought em off a guy who had them on his spec b sedan and i got em like this So I think parts I need to lower with bilsteins on outback will be rear gt bumpstops, rear upper control arms and possibly witeline camber adjustment stuff. With the rear weight of the wagon king springs make rear set to counteract 'saggy butt' as i've seen on other posts.
  8. Sup guys, Recenlty found a good price on some second hand bilsteins off a spec b sedan with around 100,00ks on them. I have planned to lower the car for a while and spec b's are what I really want. Will the sedan ones work on wagon? will rear springs need to be changed out to remove "saggy butt" as I've read on other forums? what other parts need changing for the outback to install bilsteins do I need legacy gt bumpstops and rear upper contol arm and i'll be set? I've asked this a few times before just want a definitive answer on the spec b's unsure if they require different hardware to just chucking stock legacy gt struts in, Thanks
  9. Hey guys they are actually off an 05 - Im in Aus and ive read that fronts are very similar wrx to outback 2.5i front rotors but rears are different any of you have any clue if it'll fit? I picking up some spec b struts and goin with bigger wheels so size shouldnt be an issue but I read that the ABS line bracket or something is different I am unsure.
  10. Hey guys Has anyone run these shocks in a 4th Gen Outback BP wagon? Was going to lower the car wit stock liberty gt struts and springs but these KYB's are a good price and brand new - what springs should i go with ? and is install difficult i know the perch is higher on legacy than outback in the front and installing requires you to cut the original strut and install it inside that? Unsure about this process Heres the link for the shocks https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Front-Rear-KYB-EXCEL-G-Shock-Absorbers-for-SUBARU-Liberty-BL5-BL9-BP5-BP9-BPE/152899232099?fits=Model%3ALiberty%7CMake%3ASubaru&hash=item2399812163:g:Q~8AAOSwnwpfYw~i any info and experience with these struts and installing them on a BP Outback ?
  11. Hey guys, Just looking for some info on brakes - recently picked up a set of calipers rotors and pads off a 03 wrx does anyone know if these will fit with stock wheels?
  12. Hey guys I picked up a 03 wrx brake kit for cheap do you know if this will fit stock wheels?
  13. Thank you blackobx! Im from Australia and unfortunately we never got the outback in xt form but was looking into swapping a 3.6 H6 out of tribecca and turboing that but thats a while down the road. Have you got any photos you could show me of your car im interested to see what the struts and springs look like on your car - im tempted to go wit the legacy gt swap cos it would be cheaper than brand new coilovers. Also with the whiteline camber bushings have you got a part number for this? Whiteline has heaps of stuff for outback but unsure whats necessary or just over the top I didnt want to go crazy but I want it to ride similar to a gt but better - also a part number for rear upper control arm wud be appreciated as I need to pick up a set obviously i saw spec b ones which are a aluminium and a lot lighter looking - any info regarding those? thanks again your help is appreciated greatly, My outback atm
  14. Hey guys, Looking to lower my 05 Outback - was going to go with coilovers as they have good adjustability but I want similar road feel to my outback I've heard coilovers can be pretty rough but i dont plan on doing too much track days - I've heard of others using spec b bilsteins with pink springs but unsure as I want to be able to adjust the height. Ive also heard that legacy gt bumpstops all around and rear upper control arms is a must - has anyone have experience with lowering their outback if and why I need to change over these parts would just want more clarrification of what other suspension stuff i need to swap over from legacy gt into the outback when i go with coilovers Some tyre/wheel combinations would also be helpful as I wanna push that wheel out towards the fender make it flush . Cheers
