  1. About a year ago I changed my 5MT fluid using Mobil1 synthetic. After a few months I noticed a slight grind going into 4th gear. By this summer it was way worse and I thought I was headed for a transmission rebuild. After reading as many posts as I could find on the issue, I decided to try a 50/50 cocktail of Redline Lightweight Shockproof and Motul 300. The grind has disappeared and it shifts like butter in all gears, fyi. Should've looked here sooner!
  2. Well, the resolder trick worked for a little less than a month. The red airbag dash light came on consistently as I ran errands today, along with neither "on" or "off" orange passenger light with no passenger riding. So I took the map assembly back out, reflowed and resoldered absolutely every bit of solder on both sides of the board with a much finer soldering iron tip this time. No red airbag light, and the on/off orange passenger light is working properly. We'll see...
  3. So glad I found this thread. Rear wiper was really weird, stopping at random points on the window on the intermittent setting. Pulled back the accordion and sure enough, a broken wire and one about to break. Fixed those and am now good to go, but sure don't have much confidence in how long the rest will last.
  4. Thanks to everyone on this thread, especially CrazyPilot for the pics. Another success story here. After searching and waiting a year for a manual Leg wagon with sunroof and dark color, I picked up an '06 SE 5MT wagon w/ 105K miles a couple months ago and the red cluster airbag light started coming on now and then. And then most of the time. Did the solder job. A couple weeks later and still no light, plus the orange overhead lights are now working properly (they were inconsistent without a passenger). Cheers!
