  1. Blown to the combustion chamber and making the car overheat.
  2. So at 109K I had to replace my head gaskets on my 2010 non turbo. My mechanic bought the gaskets from Subaru. The engine is running better than ever. My question is do I have to do this every 100K miles or is it a one time fix?
  3. I love driving my Legacy but I have never had a car with these kind of issues. I worry about the CVT transmission as well. This will be my last Subaru. I have never had any issues with my Toyotas. I gave my Camry to my son and then my daughter. Going strong with 359K miles on it and no major repairs. I currently have an FJ Cruiser and Avalon and they have been bulletproof. Over the years I have had 7 Toyota's and 3 Lexus's and the only replacements have been CV joints and water pumps over 100K miles. I just wish Subaru made a more dependable powertrain.
  4. Independent. Subaru was $2500 without head resurface and no water pump or other items. Both gave me a 12 month warranty.
  5. So at 110K my 2010 head gaskets failed. So I payed $2500 for head gaskets replacement that included the heads and valve seats resurfaced, new water pump, thermostat, fan water temp switch, and oil pressure switch. I also had them use the 5th Generation Subaru recommended blue antifreeze. We used Peak OET blue from Autozone. Anyway now my car has much more power and pep when I hit the pedal. Not sure if I am going to have to do this every 100K miles.
  6. I never buy new. I always buy a car that's older than 3 years so I can buy at 50% less than new. Anyway I have been thinking about a used Ford Fusion Sport. AWD with a turbo. Ford quit making them last year.
  7. What is the best brand or kind of spark plug for a 2.5 non turbo?
  8. So it is going to cost me $2340 with head machine work and a new water pump. Labor rate here in Vegas is $140/hr. So you guys were right on the money.
  9. What does it cost to have the head gaskets replaced on a 2010 2.5 non turbo?
  10. No it has been my daily driver and I put about 75 highway miles on it each day. Got another call from the mechanic and they had to replace the thermostat as well. So just a bunch of wear and tear items. I wish I had just done the thermostat, radiator cap, and water coolant temp sensor myself and saved a lot of money. They charge $140/hr labor and it adds up quick. So other than timing belt type work it has been a great car. Every time I act up my wife wants to sell me as well.
  11. So correction. I thought this was the problem but it started to boil over again. Took it to my mechanic and it turned out to be the water coolant temp sensor. They also found worn out front lower control arms and worn out front sway bar links. $900 later we should be back on the road. My 2010 has 106K miles on it and my wife thinks I should sell it but I do like it so.
  12. Great advice. That was the problem. New cap and problem fix.
  13. So my 2010 2.5 Premium non turbo is overheating and coolant coming out of the overflow bottle. 110K miles. Put a new Subaru thermostat in it last year when they did the timing belt. I did not put in a new water pump at the time because the part was not available. Any way I hope it is just a bad thermostat and not a bad head gasket or something more serious. This happened just as I started using the heater this year. I did use the heater last year so I think the thermostat might have went bad.
  14. Same here I had the Subaru emblem on my trunk lit with blue LED's. I was pulled over and required to remove them. I replaced the emblem with one that had red LED lights. I don't understand as Lyft and Uber have blue LED lights in the front windshield.
