  1. Hi, Thanks for the good info you gave me, I'm joining.
  2. Hi, Is this class action a scam? See postcard image below. Cheers, klxdrt
  3. Painless. The Active Lane Keep System problem just started. Since purchased worked great. Maintenance consisted of: 4 oil/filter changes, GPS updated, Radio chk'd/updated several times because of Sirius radio problem, eyesite was chk'd/updated several times. As you can see, most problems were with the cattiwampuss tech stuff, not what makes a Subaru a SUBARU. Car runs fine, handles well, quiet, gets up to 29 mpg in Jersey??? Is the Active Lane Keep System a common problem in these cars?
  4. I Trader, Thanks for all the good info. You mentioned about turning it all off. I agree I'm adding the rest of the tech crap, center stack esp, to the list. You buy a Subaru because it's a Subaru. What more do you need? My first car in the 50's was a 1935 straight 8 Packard with a BIG back seat that was great for drive-ins. Paint was somewhat faded, but it's ride was very smooth. No problem in the snow as it was heavy & had big tires. Cheers, klxdrt
  5. Hi, Happy New. 2018 2.5 Legacy 10,500 mi: dashboard indicates ORANGE rectangle alert, but does not pull car back into correct lane. Worked fine for 2 1/2 yr, then stopped. Consulted 1 manual out of 7-8 & found this: image below. I toggled these 4 switches off/on with ignition on & off and saw NO indication anywhere that the collision control lane change system was working. Hesitate to take to dealer as svc is slow. Regards
  6. Hi, We live in NJ & we could not register our Stryker Vehicle. This a great vehicle for driving in NJ. We lived in 7-8 states plus military and NJ is cattiwampus especially when it comes to drivers, hence the Stryker Vehicle, no one messes with this thing. So we bought a Legacy & to honor the warranty, you have to change the oil/filter every 6 mo or 6000 mi. We were able to get a gift cert from Subaru. Used it to extend our oil/filter changes for several more yrs. Legacy is a keeper. Regards, klxdrt
  7. Thanks, You made my day by hitting the nail on the head
  8. Hi, I have a 2018 Legacy 2.5, <10,000 mi. & it's garaged. When I start the Legacy in the morning, the increased RPM sounds like valve clatter for several seconds because of engine racing. Subaru 0-20 Syn. Oil & filter has been changed 4 times in <10,000 mi., not counting the car's original oil. No clatter when engine is warm. I brought this up with the dealer & several service people several times & was told that it's a characteristic of the Boxer engine. About a month ago I had a conversation with service mgr. about the engine clattering & I brought up the inverted oil filter located on TOP of the engine. The service mgr agreed; however she went on to say govt. reg's. required increased startup rpm to limit pollution. The engine would warm up faster. Other than the clatter, legacy runs fine. Am I getting "fake news" or is this a Subaru Boxer engine characteristic? Regards, klxdrt
  9. Hi, Does the 2018 Legacy support WAZE? Regards, klxdrt
  10. XT-Sub Thanks, Just bought a Subaru to handle NJ & NE winters not a DOS 2.0 pc. I really appreciate your thoughtful answers. I learned from them, no BS. I'm going to check your suggestion out today. Regards, klxdrt
  11. XT-sub nickempirepa posted this: Yeah the CC on my 19 does the 5mph jump too... you have to tap it real quick to do 1mph increments. Tomorrow I'll try your method. Do you know where I can find the ver# of the TT GPS SW so I can download an update to flash dr, & upload from the USB port in the dash? Regards, klxdrt
  12. Guys, Thanks for all the good tips. Results of yesterday's test drive. 1] Transmission shifted smoothly thru all steps, gas mileage increased 47%. Did the cvt stick in a lower gear? That's what it felt like to me & RPMs were higher than "normal" 5] seatbelt was not buckled, EMB released. I used seat belts in a 56 Merc, my buddies thought I was "nuts" for using them so I don't need tech or the govt to tell me to use seat belts. 6] CC still would only increment 5 MPH. It would increment 1 MPH with a quick "nanosecond" up or down flick of steering wheel cntrl. I'd like to clear up #6 the CC increment situation. Do any of you guys now how many nanoseconds the steering wheel tab needs to be flicked, because in NJ I like to drive just a little below the spd limit? 2-4] GPS issues: Had a 2012 Sonata with rudimentary GPS, wasn't large, pretty or cool but it worked in SC. Moved to NJ, bought a Garmin hand held, it wouldn't handle the Jug Handles either. Called Garmin several times & some of the people I talked to did not know what a Jug Handle was. Explained, the conversation went cattiwampus, said good by. The big take-away of all this is the "highly trained" people at dealer didn't understand any of this because the Chk Engine Lite did not come on. Legacy is a great car & is running fine now even if I have to live with some tech quirks. In my experience, Eyesight, Collision Avoidance & BU Camera is all the Legacy needs. Thanks again, klxdrt
  13. 2018 Legacy, 1 yr 8 mo, 9000 mi, 4th OC Sept 19. Up until now, Legacy preformed beautifully, solid, smooth, quiet, comfortable, great handling in any weather, recently got 32-34 MPG 4 cyl has plenty of power. Everything has worked fine. Below are recent effects & observations from driving the car a little less than 2yr. Since the overwhelming use of tech in cars today, I think very few have the diverse tech & mechanical know how to understand & diagnose a solution. The check engine lite never come on since we bought the car. If any of you guys or gals have any ideas as whether I dreaming of something or is this happening at the MRI level. Do I need to find someone with brain surgery or rocket science experience? Dealer & Subaru csv mentioned if no check engine lite comes on, everything should be ok & they could check the car eom July. 1] After filling up with gas, & driving a short distance (about 30mi) noticed MPG was less than 20 MPG, normally between 25-27 & higher. At the same time it felt like the engine was not shifting in to a higher ratio. As I slowed down trans seem to move to a lower ratio, car slightly decelerated. 2] GPS: Entered an address 30 mi away & was presented with a location only several miles. Re entered location got same results. 3] Several instances I was directed in a cattiwampus route sometime thru subdivisions. 4] GPS directed to make a left turn but NJ law discouraged me & the concrete divider wouldn't let me either. Maybe TT's GPS software can't understand NJ's famous "Jug Handles." They have been around for at least 50-60 yr. A few "if then" statements should do it. 5] Sometimes backing out garage, emergency brake doesn't release. Have to release several times to disengage. 6] In cruise control, QUICK up/down motion of steering wheel control will not increment the speed by 1 MPH. Only increments +/- 5 MPH. Regards, klxdrt
  14. Hi, Can someone tell me how I can upload a 24 pg 8mb pdf to this forum. I'm sure I can screen capture the pages of the 17 q I answered plus the page I added give them addl info. regards,
  15. Hi, Im having the same problem. See pix. Dealer has been working on it for about 2 wks. Dealer sent me a lg PDF from Subaru, I answered 17 quest, then they sent it back to Subaru. If you want see questionnaire, I scan it & post it. Maybe if you show it to your dealer, they can get it moving/solved for you. Will keep this post informed as to my situation.
