  1. Thought I would update. This was eventually tracked down to the all too common 5eat Speed sensor 2 malfunction.
  2. Thanks for the Info. Weird I'm not getting any codes for it though? even thou its done it 3 times in total. I get it between 3-2 I think, on the Downshift it goes into limbo mode (Feels like neutral). The Second time it felt like it was surge-bang ing . Multiple mini bang pulses. Hard to tell but if it was Turbine speed sensor 2 it would 100% show up as a code? Or it it possible that the Transmission just has no idea when it happens. Cheers again, I know the warning signs now so im confident if it ever happened again I could rapidly chunk it into neutral and save her .
  3. Got Dyno Tuned after this. They think it is coming from the Rear Main Seal. Not worth the engine pull and replacement cost. Updates since the OG Post. Smell is geting worse slowly, probably as more oil seep accumulates. One Thing I noticed, when I chnaged from Mobil 1 to Motul the smell got 300% worse. My first thought was that the Motul must have been thinner and therfore leaking more. But I think it is simply down to the fact that different oils have different smells when burnt. When I swapped again to Castrol, the smell is not sharp like Motul, and this is most likely why the dealers use the oil they use. They don't smell like an oil leak!!. Still no dripping or anything so it must be being burnt on the exhuast or simply seeping around the area.
  4. Update: Happend again. I think it is down to my Tune, Only happens in S, not S# or I. Must be some bad params in my S 5EAT tune.
  5. Hi guys got the 5eat 5th Gen 2010 GT with a Ecutek tune. About 4 months ago I was going around a corner in 2nd or 3rd and the trans felt like it was in neutral just after I had straightened up. I immediately came off the throttle (should have quickly pushed it into N) then suddenly massive bang from the rear of the car and back to normal. Thank god I was at 0% throttle. Latter about a week or 2 latter, i felt something similar with pulsing moderately heavy judders/ bangs, again felt and sounded like it was coming from the rear of the car, again I completely went off the throttle. Panicing for my life I immediately got atf changed, front diff oil. Changed and rear diff oil changed. Tuner noted metal shaving in the rear diff. 4/5 months have passed and have not had anything like it since. No codes, no CEL and have not been babying it. I can assume the tuner might have done a TCM reset as my map disk had forgot itself when I got the car back (at the very least the battery was disconnected). Any thoughts? Have not done any of the 5th gen TCM updates (if they exist). Could my diff oil or atf have been so dirty / out of spec that undefined behaviour combined with my tune could have caused this behaviour?. Let the 5eat wizards and speculators have at it!!
  6. Sorry for the delay in the reply!! The scoop is this one https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/51662 . Bolts up to the stock mounts for the scoop. In other news made some Roof Flashing Sideskirts and double-sided taped them on XD
  7. Installed a EZ Lip. Got rear fenders rolled, probably not necessary for everyone but I have a high positive camber on the rear, and it was slightly cutting into the tyre side wall when going over speed bumps etc.
  8. Update: Just got the Car back! Also got Colder plugs and the car is now tuned to run on 98 (NZ) Octane. Running at 16 psi across a wide rev range now =D. Summery - PCV Upgrade, Ecutek Tune, Boost Control Solenoid, Colder Plugs, Exhaust cutout, Fuel XD.
  9. Thanks all, I removed my 5mm spacers on the back and plan to buy 0.5 inch strut spacers to compensate for my sag, will then look into bump stops! I found removing my spare tyres stops rubbing over bumps in the meantime XD haha
  10. How high will a 1' rear strut spacer lift a 2010 Legacy GT? On some other makes I hear a 1 inch strut spacer could lift the rear by 2 inches. Also could get 3/4 inch spacer? https://www.subtle-solutions.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_25_132_133_689&products_id=637&osCsid=b5b26b956962ffe1d9e7d6419d067367 at 120,000 km with some rear sag and recently upsized to 245/45/19 ! is a 1 inch spacer alot?. How bad is it?
  11. Can confirm my 5th Gen 5eat GT does the funny shifting thing and sometimes rough shift when coming to a stop. I would say it's part of the stock transmission tune ( remeber everyone else has a cvt). Not sure if your version of the legacy has I mode, S mode and S# mode but I notice I get less of the weird gear searching when in S mode, so I think that gives credit to fact that it's stock tune quirkyness where they were really trying to tune for good mpg.
  12. Haha, yea my car is very dirty at the moment, its clay/dried mud from a trip in some wet non-tarmac conditions! Just noticed something kinda weird. Inside the wheel lining there are a few grommets and what looks like a cable or something underneath a layer of plastic in the rear wheel wells. Has anyone taken off their rear wheel lining?, I want to reshape it with a heat gun, but if there is electronic cabling running along in the wheel well, i'm not to sure that's a good idea!.
