  1. I replaced a rear CV today but I am having troubles getting the old oil seal out, is there some special trick or tool to get that old seal out of the hole where the CV connects to the diff? Appreciate it.
  2. @JMP6889928 Thanks for the reply. I have heard great things about both the Moroso and Killer B Pick-Ups and Oil-Pans. Basically everything from Killer B seems to be very, very nice and I am assuming that is the reason their prices are high. Considering Headers for my build as well but damn they are expensive. I was hoping someone on here has made a similar mistake to me and could tell me if my Killer B Pick-UP will work with a Moroso Oil Pan? Or does anyone know if they did indeed have 2 oil pans for the Model Year 2005?
  3. Hello guys, Just found out from a different thread that my 05 probably has a different oil pan than what is compatible with the Killer B Oil Pickup I bought. According to the other thread they had 2 different pans for the '05 MY depending on date of manufacture so I am not sure but more than likely i need a new Pan. I see that the Moroso Oil Pan is quite a bit cheaper then the Killer B one, is it possible to use the Moroso Pan with Killer B's Oil Pickup? I would like to save a few bucks if possible and sorry if this is a dumb question. I guess worse case I can list it but would prefer going with the Killer B. Thanks a bunch in advance.
  4. I agree, I personally despise Automatics as well. Occasionally someone else needs to drive my car who cannot drive Manual Transmissions so I had to get an Automatic. My other summer/fun car is unfortunately an automatic as well since they did not make the Monte Carlo SS (L67 3800 Supercharged 4T65E-HD 4speed) but its transmission is bullet proof atleast. When it comes to Automatics the 5EAT is one of the coolest I have tried. It feels alot closer to a Manual in sport mode and has a much tighter feel then my Monte Carlo that has had a bunch of work done to the transmission. Again, sorry you are going through this crap man. What was wrong with the original transmission? Could it be rebuilt or is it too far gone?
  5. Damn, I am sorry to hear you going through such a tough time. I bought my 05 GT Wagon in January as well. It is always a risk buying a used car, and these cars specifically seem to be harder and harder to find in good shape and have not been thrashed on by people. What was the mileage like on it? Unfortunately you need another transmission, perhaps you can get your old one rebuilt if it is still in good enough shape? Were you told by a Shop that your new transmission would work with your model year? Perhaps you can go back to them and work something out. Mine has had a few gremlins (i.e., Valve Cover Gaskets, Spark Plugs, few coolant lines ect, ect) pop up but nothing serious so far. I am doing a complete stage 2.5 or 3 in the next month or 2 when the rest of the parts arrive and hopefully it holds up strong.
  6. I figured as much, I knew someone on here could clear that up for you. Unfortunately you need a different 5EAT that matches your Generation of 5EAT.
  7. I am fairly sure but would need others to chime in. The 5EAT has 2 generations that must be paired with the correct year i.e., Generation 1 '05-'06 pair up only with 05 and 06 Legacy's and 07-09 are gen 2 and pair up only with 07-09. I could be wrong but I swear I read that on here a few different times and Im not sure but '04 5EAT's may work as well. Again others will need to chime in but I am fairly sure. I know for sure that its that way with the Valve Body since I just purchased one and did quite a bit of correspondence with the Transmission Specialist. You could try PM'ing Hexmods or send an email to IPT if you cannot get a more definitive answer then I am giving.
  8. Not Harsh at all, I was just curious. Always nice to know others feedback or opinions. Compared to my other car's transmission this thing feels much tighter (2005 Monte Carlo Supercharged @364whp, 4T65E-HD, w/2.91:1 final drive when stock). I put a shift kit, granted its not extreme. I also changed final drive to 3.29:1. Honestly it still shifts fairly slow but alot firmer but the Gear Ratio change was incredible. I have not driven it since I purchased the Subaru but If I remember correctly in Sport Mode, the 5EAT is not far behind shift speed wise. I am new to Subaru's and since I am not the only one driving the car I had to go with an Automatic which I think sucks. Honestly though, I find this transmission to be a fair compromise between the two and much better than I thought it was going to be. It does not shift super fast or hard or anything but that can be "fixed" or at least improved greatly with some mods like a Valve Body from what I have read and seen in videos. I have yet to install mine but will do this summer when I put on the rest of the the parts I have waiting to be put on.
  9. Interesting, Thanks for the heads up on HKS before I spent a good chunk of cash on it. I am getting a larger turbo for sure but I am not sure on which exact one yet. I have been leaning towards a 18G but I am open to suggestions. My goal is going to be 300-325whp. I appreciate the help, guys.
  10. As far as I know, No. I recently purchased a VB for my 05 GT and if I remember correctly they go as follows, '05-'06 are the same, then '07-'09 are the same and do not work together but I am not 100% on that. @WhiteXC, What makes you dissapointed in it? When it comes to Automatic transmissions I find this one quite decent with the button/paddle shift. My other car is a '05 Monte Carlo Supercharged w/4T65E-HD, It is Bomb Proof strong but has super long gears and is not exactly fast shifting either.
  11. I figured as much, I am new to Subaru's but have read over and over that even a small Modification requires a tune most of the time. I have yet to install any of my parts, I plan on doing everything at once. I have most of the parts already for a decent build, according to unofficial stage thread it will be either a Stage 2.5 or 3 with a few Transmission mods as well. I still need a few parts and a Turbo when I figure out which one I go with. I was under the impression that HKS made nice stuff, is that not the case? A big reason why I was considering going with their Premium Suction Kit that uses the factory airbox is that it comes with a Turbo Inlet as well. I have a Perrin 320 TMIC and considered getting their Inlet but its about $200-$300 and CAI is roughly $300 making that route expensive more than the HKS since it has both. Does the Inlet not help with a quicker spool? Thanks.
  12. Did you notice a decent gain from it? I like that HKS includes the Turbo Inlet with most of their Kits. I did find a Racing Suction that I am fairly sure works but I am confirming hopefully. Wonder what the Difference would be between the two performance and sound wise. Thanks.
