someonefromeurope
hello out there we are looking for a Service Manual for an Legacy S401 STi engine, that should be build into a rally cross buggy. here in europe it is impossible to get it. based on the latest information, it is also possible, that the engine is not out of this model, if so, can someone identify where it comes from? it is an biturbo engine with 2litre and around 340HPs. the main problem, we are facing, is the second turboloader and its controlling and timing. anybody who has allready put his hands on such an engine is also welcome, if he allows us to ask a few questions. best regards someonefromeurope
SUBE555
You are MUCH better off using an STi RA single-turbo engine than a twin-turbo engine. I've heard they are just a nightmare to tune over stock and the drivability can be much better with a few modifications. Is this S401 engine in your buggy already? Is it really an S401 engine? someonefromeurope
the engine is not in the car right now, cause it was bought a few weeks ago. the decision for this engine was made, because you dont have to do expensive tuning on this 2liter engine to be competitive and to be honest, because it was quite cheap. but since the lack of information and support here in europe it might turn out, that the engine was not that cheap at all (if it cant be used and if the problems with controlling the secondary turbocharger are not resolved). and no, it is not for sure that it is out of an S401 STi. it is for sure out of a legacy, has an bi turbo, 2 litre and around 340HPs. with that information given, our best guess was the S401 STi. any other suggestions? greatings from austria (mozart, no kangoroos ;-) )
SUBE555
You will need the ECU and wiring loom for one. There were NO legacy turbos that made that power from the factory. There were lots of Legacy sequential twin-turbos built, a bunch more than WRXs if I'm correct, but that doesn't mean it was a totally optimal solution either. Might I ask what you got it for $$$-wise?

Just look for the manual for a twin turbo 98-03 legacy engine as it is the same thing
