jhermano
Greetings, I'm new to this forum. I am from the Philippines and have a converted BG5 GT-B. There maybe only 2 of them here (including mine ). The only Legacy model sold here was the BG5-A Legacy GL(NA) from 1996 to 1998 (they dumped them here). I was lucky enough to know someone who had the resources to smuggle a twin turbo from Japan and swap everything we could into a local model. I have been looking for a Legacy enthusiast group (in english) for a while now and this forum suddenly pops up. I never felt like I fit in in those Imprezza sites. I am not so sure which forum I should be on since this seems to be more of a New Legacy group. anyway, just wanted to share my car with everyone else since Legacy Love and Appreciation isnt really that common. Maybe I can get help from you guys on sourcing parts because it's getting tough maintaining this sucker. Would anyone know where I can order urethane bushings for my car. It's tough when I dont even know my engine number and from what year models the different parts of my drivetrain came from (long conversion story). here's a quick pic of my baby
SUBE555
Hey, welcome to the group. Hard to find an actual Legacy owner group. I'm sure there are enough of us current Legacy owners on here myself included as noted in my sig. Nice car. :)

SUBE555
I'd rather have a single turbo over a twin-turbo.

Having said that they nice if you drive around their limitations The Twin is alot better in day to day driving than most older single turbos. I own a BD Twin turbo so i know a thing or two about them. Does your engine have one or two wastegates ? evolutionmovement
2nd generation Legacys are closely related to 1st generations. Much more so than later iterations especially. Just another place to look, is all. Steve
jhermano
@ EJ20H-TT About the wastegates, although I know my way around cars, I am not sure if I have 2 wastegates (I think the tangle of hoses on this engine is enough to intimidate any mechanic). I think there is one for the primary turbo that exhausts back into the intake manifold but I have already bypassed it and installed a Blitz BOV. about the giltrap link, do they ship parts abroad? Will they be helpful enough to help me trace the parts I need? What I actually need right now is a drive shaft bushing the litlle donut thing in front of the center diff. @SUBE555 Have you tried a twin yet? I've driven a lot of Impreezzas and with this setup you get the best of both worlds. I have an automatic tranny by the way and the primary turbo gives it enough torque for sedate driving. You basically get 2 cars in one. I just tell my wife not to pass 4000 rpm coz when the secondary hits, it feels just like any other Imprezza. @evolutionmovement I have the same sentiments as EJ20H-TT about legacycentral, mostly fist gen but will try them too. It's hard to find a place to fit in with a rare car.
EJ20H-TT
If u have only one wastegate then your engine may be a EJ20R. Re Giltrap - sending parts overseas i don't know. To be honest your local Subaru parts place should be able to help i'd have thought. At least contact Japan for u. Given that subaru parts are very interchangable i'd try local first. jhermano
It's kinda hard to explain the local Subaru situation here in the Philippines. The Subaru dealership has changed ownership a couple of times since they dumped the Legacys and a few WRXs in the late ninties. They have just comeback again about 2 years ago and only sell Foresters at the moment. These guys are all new and have no clue about the interchangeability of Subaru parts. Add to that the fact that they charge an arm and a leg for a part that will take them months to order. I'm thinking I'll have better chances finding contacts on the net. jhermano
By the way, I don't think I have an EJ20R since I have a matic tranny. From what I know they had to limit the matic to 260PS since the tranny couldnt handle the full
EJ20H-TT
The R came in two versions from what i know - 206kw MT and 190kw Auto.
jhermano
Another reason why I dont think I have an R engine is because I was told that the donor car for the conversion was a BG A. I just ordered the bumpers, grill, lights and skirts of the B model to set myself apart. would you know what year the R engines were used?
EJ20H-TT
Yep the A model would be the EJ20H Your front bumper threw me. EJ20R would be 96 i think.
