The Ivory leather is like nothing we have ever seen in a Subaru here in the US. Stunning. Having said that I've only been here 5 years. Let me guess, it will only be available in right hand drive and therefore in theory you could import one into NZ in a couple of years time when they have depreciated sufficiently.

Has the quality improved? I remember lots or crappy toyotas, mazdas and honduhs. I actually had a JDM '87 Mk II Golf, imported full suspension from England, Jamex was the brand I think. Also hacked the CAT and it was around GTi spec. Not looking past Subies now though. What did you pay for yours? If you don't mind me asking (my Golf was $17,000 in '91 - ouch)

Subaru Legacy/Outback are the number one imported car. I've seen a 2000 B4 RSK Twin Turbo ~ 28,000km only $28,000 kiwi (18,700 USD) - very nice car indeed. I paid $8000 or $5400 USD for mine - it had done 71,000 km

We don't have the lower dollar high-performance Subarus here because plain and simple, they haven't been around that long. No volume. What have they sold to date, less than 75k late-model turbo Subaru's in the US? Probably closer to 50k. I'm really looking forward to seeing some special edition models of some sort, and not just LL Bean editions. I know they aren't cheap to make special editions, but how hard would it be for Prodrive to throw a Performance pack, some springs, wheels and a few other dohickeys on a WRX and call it a special edition Prodrive WRX for pricing between a WRX and an STi? It really would be a sweet little car.
