That's it folks. Most people who buy a Legacy won't do anything to get more ponies out like we would/will. So if you knew that you wouldn't or couldn't do anything to it, which would you rather have? edit: and what affects your vote? Extreme heat climate choosing H6 to avoid heat soak? Mountainous or high altitude choosing FI for efficiency?

I prefer the lighter weight of the 2.5T and the greater flexibility in driving. I personally like the dual personality of a turbo car. Others prefer the linearity of the H6. Hooray for options!

I wonder if people refer to the turbo lag have only eperienced the WRX turbo. The Forester XT has next to no lag, the variable valving and smaller turbo/intercooler play into that. If the lgacy turbo is similar, the performance lost in respnse time will be minimal. The only reason I see for the H6 is the smoothness. NA works well with automatics, and will be good for those looking for class and smooth (competition for G35s and Acura TLs).

From any rolling start there is virtually no lag as the peak torque figure is at 2400 rpm (not much past walking pace).

Sometimes that statement can be true, when dealing with the average american lead-sled. I think that turbo'd cars are going to be the direction for performance in the future. You create a jekyl and hyde senario where you can drive the car like an econobox or open it up for some serious fun. Now turbo-deisel, that's a whole different can of worms. Technically there is no reason why a turbo application shouldn't fit all vehicle types.

I think you are right Dr. Zevil. I really think they need an econo model based on the R1e or similar sized vehicle with a body like this Honda... and have the base be like a 1.5L Turbo (yes, they make a 1.5L engine) and make it a responsive little turbo with a CVT tranny (could be like 150hp and rather economical, perhaps high-30mpg range.) If it sold well, well the larger engines could get a little more free roam and not have to evade regulations by making cars considered trucks. The 3L turbo is said to be pretty good in its new form, with the 5EAT, a bit better, the sort of feed off each others newfound good points, a good 5MT or 6MT would be even better though! The 250/250 EJ255/257 engine in the new Leg should be wonderful as well, I think they have designed them to be close and a toss-up for many. For those of us who tune though, there is little second guessing. If I was buying one for my wife (still enjoying singlehood at this point :) ) and she wasn't too concerned one way or the other, the H6 would probably be the pick then.

if you would not mod at all then either one would be fine. A turbo car has a different feel than a naturally aspirated. I would drive them both and make a diecision. If someone was not a preformance enthusiast then the H6 would be just fine. But u r so what if you change your mind and decide to mod in the future? :) Cheers Nick

I'm wondering if it may really be underspeced or not. While I originally had been thinking it could happen, I'm starting to doubt it some. If the JDM engines are showing 247-255hp & 230ft-lbs from dyno testing, I think 250/250 is quite nice. Maybe the specs are accurate, but I'd still like to hope for a hidden 20-30hp. (up-pipe & down-pipe ;) )
