Didn't get the promise power gains, but it adds to the asthetics of the engine bay as well as the woosh sound inside the cabin.

I think the intake made a tremendous improvement. I have all my mods done at NC Rally residing in a Subaru dealership and they install/tune many of these intakes with huge success...and highly recommend them. I'm happy with it.

Subaru recommended I install the intake before I reached the 1k mile break-in period. I have owned the car three days…installed the intake on the second day. Unfortunately, I have not been able to really push the car hard due to the low mileage (100 miles) on the car. Honestly, the only thing I noticed from the intake was a lot of annoying noise (hissing, blowing) from under the hood. The car actually stuttered under heavy acceleration immediately following the install; this problem seems to have worked itself out after several miles. A blow off valve would sound a lot better than this intake, and as far as I can tell, there is no significant HP increase with either.
Maybe Cobb Tuning is on to something.

I installed the SPT intake on my 2007 Legacy GT, you can really hear the turbo which is great. I didn't notice any huge power increases, however I haven't really got on it either. I am going to install the shield this weekend, will follow with a update.

When I bought the car I was a bit dissappointed by how quiet the turbo was. The SPT intake definately fixed that for me. As has been mentioned before all of the good turbo noises are now present and accounted for. I think that the turbo is spooling a bit faster now, and the ass dyni says the car is pulling a bit harder as well. But it goes without saying that the ass dyno is not all that accurate most of the time. My biggest complaint is the fitment. I have installed intakes before and this one was by far the biggest PITA. The heat shield is where I had the most issues. The intake itself went on without any trouble for the most part, the hose was a bit tight but a little elbow grease and persistance fixed that. The heat shield was not as straight forward as the others I have done. The instructions were not real clear so it took a little trial and error to get it on properly.
Overall I would recommend the SPT intake. There are probably others that are better, and there are probably some that are worse. If you are looking for a nice looking piece that won't break the bank or void the warranty this is a good piece FTW. If you do not want added noise then stay away!

I bought my LGT about a month ago, used. It was something that I could mod. Intake feels and sounds great. Had a friend install intake for me and we had issues with the heatshield too like qp_20! I feel you on that. Looking to go exhaust next. Any suggestions out there for any one specific? Not finding to many options out there. Borla mostly. Expensive too?

Just recently put this intake on my 2007 Legacy GT. The BOV sound you get is great. Heat shield is an additional cost but is needed to keep as much heat away while in town driving. I also have a full turbo back exhaust from COBB as well. Waiting for them to come out with there AP for the 07's. Biggest reason I did this mod right now was for the "big picture"....eventually down the road larger turbo and such. I'm going to be watching the Legacy build in the subie sport magizine very closely!

The cone was easy to install like most intakes, but the heat sheild needed fab work.

For the money, it's a decent addition to the car. Looks nice and doesn't mess with your warranty. The heat shield needed to be trimmed down where the pipe for the cone goes through, since it was too high. Not too big of a deal, but just look out for that. I think it will pay off later if more upgrades take place.

I would only reccomend this in conjunction with the SPT heat sheild. COBB only tested this product with no heat shield. Also I don't know if they did this or not, but you must unplug the battery. Subaru made the same statement as COBB did. You will run lean if you dont follow instructions. From Subaru, and I quote:
"Watch your Air-Fuel Mix
If you install the SPT High Flow Air Intake system and want to measure the results, be sure the air-fuel mix resets to original specifications prior to testing. Especially if the SPT setup is dynoed first, neglecting to reset the control unit will result in an air-fuel mixture that’s too lean. That will skew dynamometer results for the base line too high, and the comparison will not be apples-to-apples. Disconnect the battery so the control unit resets to ensure proper calculations from the air mass sensor input."

This is the first upgrade I've done to this vehicle. Looks and sounds great! Doesn't feel as though it did much for performance. Sounds like it might spool sooner but it could just be because you can hear it now. Also, it doesn't feel quite as smooth during acceleration as it did stock.

I installed this my self in a parking lot within 10min, after installation i noticed i am loosing some high end hp and the hesitate in 3k-4k is more noticeable, ass dyno feels like a 8-10hp gain in 3k-5k range but loosing pwr after 5000rpm, maybe a tune will fix it.

Unfortunately I have never used another intake on this car, but I am satisfied with how the car sounds now. It has been my first "performance" mod, and it seems like so far there is no problem with the car running. I plan on buying the heatshield later.

I got the intake and heat shield from Subaru when I bought the car for $300. There was very little to no difference in acceleration with the addition of this part. The BOV noises it lets through are pretty pleasing to the ear with the windows down, with the windows up it's a lot quieter, and with music on you don't hear it at all.
My only concern is how ridiculously hot the intake piping gets after just a short drive. The intake air must be hot after going through the scalding hot piping which clearly isn't good. :/
