Crucial Racing Shorty Downpipe

Description: The Crucial Racing Systems downpipe is manufactured to the highest standards using 100% 304 stainless for the pipes AND flanges, ensuring perfect fitment. This 3” pipe will bolt to your stock midpipe, or any aftermarket midpipe designed to replace the stocker (including our racepipe and highflow catalytic converter pipe). It features a divorced wastegate, and the wastegate tube is extended farther than the competition to just next to the bottom of the main exhaust pipe to minimize turbulence in the exhaust gas flow. Moving the merging wastegate gasses far downstream from the main exhaust outlet means better boost response and more power through less turbulence.

The pipes and flanges are coated with the highest quality metallic-ceramic thermal protective barrier available today (2000 F is its rating and at 2400 F the coating still retains its integrity) to keep under-hood and intercooler temperatures much lower and to maintain higher exhaust gas velocity for more power. Extreme care is taken during the coating application process to ensure that the coating is applied consistently and will never fail.

Pros: coating, shorty
Cons: none

Wanted to keep at least one cat in the exhaust, and didn't want to have to pay for a race one, at least not yet. Also wanted a coated, shielded or wrapped pipe because of the location of the DP underneath the cover/intercooler.

Crucial's DP fit all of my needs.

PS Also can be purchased with sensor bung for wideband O2

Pros: Coated. Surprisingly Quiet. Good Quality. Works with both MT and AT.
Cons: Expensive.

The most surprising thing about this downpipe is that it seems to be quieter than the 3" pipes. I can't really hear the wastegate. It seems like the combination of coating plus D/t pipe ratio makes it quieter. Don't know.

It's coated so it'll help keep the under hood temperatures a little bit lower as well as temperatures around CV boots a little bit lower.

Mine doesn't have an O2 bung, but the newer ones have an O2 bung for tuning.

The only downside is that the total price with a HFC midpipe will be more than just getting a single DP with HFC.
