Description: I picked these up from Firestone for $450 out the door (with taxes, fees, and road hazard coverage), about $60-$100 less than the name brand tires.

A little about the Primewell brand: Primewells aren't a generic tire (a tire made by a name brand manufactuer like Michelin, Dunlop, etc.), but are made in China by a huge tire maker called GITI and sold here by assorted tire sellers and shops, so you can get them for cheap.

These are the 205/55/R16 H speed rated tires. They have a 40,000 mile warranty, 460 treadwear rating, A and B traction and temperature ratings (respectively), which is the norm for a good all-season tire.

My car had originally had some BF Goodrich Touring T/A Pro Series tires (70k mile all-season), and switching to the Primewells I could immediately tell a difference. The steering wall less responsive, became numb and floaty, and I couldn't feel the road as well. There's noticable tread squirm, and they howl when taking hard corners.

However, on the upside, these are quiet on the road, and my car has a more comfortable ride. The traction is great. I drove in heavy rain yesterday and had no problems with hydroplaning or weird handling. I also had no problem negotiating a steep muddy driveway. My other tires would spin, but these didn't.

So...

Pro's:

Good traction
Quiet
Smooth ride
Cheap

Con's:

Numb steering
Steering less responsive
Decreased road feel and handling
Noticable tread squirm

You essentially get what you pay for, which will be enough to keep most everyone who buys them satisfied. These aren't performance tires, and they aren't even sporty, but they aren't designed for that. These are good, but if you want a great tire, go spend $500-600 and get some Michelins, Goodyears, or other name brands.
