Description: I picked these up on Monday after I went to get a flat tire fixed, but was told that the tire was damaged beyond repair (sidewall damage) and had to be replaced.

A little about them if you have never heard of Prime Well's...these are economy tires made in China by a huge tire manufacturer called GITI and sold in America through assorted tire dealers and shops.

I bought the 205/55/R16 H-speed rated tires for my LGT wagon. These are good for 40k miles and are comparable (in spec) to others of this type.

My original tires were BF Goodrich Touring T/A Pro Series, and I could immediately tell a difference between the name brand tires and the generic China-Specials. The steering was less responsive and turned numb and floaty, I could tell there was noticeable tread squirm, and I couldn't "feel" the road as good. The handling was also upset a bit, and they howled more than the other tires when taking hard corners.

The upside for the Primewells aside from the low-cost are good traction, a smooth ride, and less road noise, which I really like. I drove in heavy rain yesterday and had no problems with hydroplaning or lost traction. The traction is also really good. The other tires would spin and fight for traction, but I could drive up a steep muddy driveway without any trouble.

So...

Pro's:

Cheap
Quiet
Smooth ride
Good traction

Con's:

Decreased steering feel and responsiveness
Tread squirm
Less grip in cornering

So you get what you pay for, which I think is enough for most everyone who will buy these. Obviously, they aren't sport or performance tires, and if I had $600 to spend, I'd have sprung for the more expensive tires, but for what I got, I can't complain.
