Description:
|
GReddy is now offering that famous first modification for Subaru LGT owners. The Greddy Subaru Legacy GT Uppipe is of equal quality as the more expensive units on the market. Its constructed of stainless steel with 1/2 inch thick flanges. There are 2 options; one without an EGT bung, and one with an EGT bung. Both use 50mm diameter piping.

Cons:

bad fitment

Given GReddy's reputation, I was willing to buy this without finding any feedback from Legacy owners. The construction and finish of this uppipe is great, very solid product.
However, my shop ran into major issues with fitment. The angle of the uppipe bend caused the turbo to rotate slightly clockwise, and thus the entire intercooler did as well. This causes several problems:
- piping from throttle body to intercooler will not fit all the way on (about 1/4" short), and thus under high boost could potentially pop off!
- the intercooler mounting brace on the driver's side will no longer fit
- engine cover will no longer fit
As long as I don't have issues with the intercooler piping blowing off, I will keep this uppipe, but if it does, I'll be going to one with a flex joint.
One caveat to this review: I installed this with the Autospeed downpipe, which you will see from my review also had some fitment issues (although just with the mounting bracket). With other downpipes, the Greddy uppipe may not cause the issues I had, hard to say. So, your mileage may vary....

I got the one without the EGT bung. After much searching on LGT, I figured out the resistor mod and some tricks to putting on the up pipe. Pulling out the stock pipe wasn't as easy as I thought, but putting in the pipe was actually the easy part. I got everything to fit together and bolted down. I have put on about 4000 miles and no issues.
Note: I am using the stock downpipe. I would recommend that you do the downpipe at the same time, since you may have to remove it from the turbo.

AWFUL Fitment!

Friends bought this for me as a birthday present. This was the first mod to my car besides an AccessPort.
I have the same turbo rotation problem as others. I had to make a custom braket to hold the intercooler in place as it would move around and pulled the hose off the intercooler.
If this wasn't bad enough tonight I tried to install a Perrin DP and it didn't fit because of the 1-2" shift the UP caused. There goes 4 hours of my Friday night.
Avoid this thing like the plague. I'm glad it was a gift and I didn't buy it or else I would be really mad.
