Pros:

High flow filter. Washable. Durable.
|
|
Cons:
|
Requires you to actually read instructions before re-applying oil to filter

Great product! I've owned K&N filters for just about everything I've driven and I've always been happy with the results. The thing that makes these great is that you get better flow by reducing the amount of filter fibers that air passes through, and compensating with an oily finish. The oil catches particles that would otherwise pass through. This combination gives you superior filtration and superior flow.
IF YOU READ THE INSTRUCTIONS that come with the cleaning kit, you will know exactly how much oil to re-apply. If you overdo it, the oil from the filter will cover your mass airflow sensor (MAF) and you'll be left with a check engine light (CEL). If you do it correctly, there is no problem at all.

I bought one a few days ago and I'm enjoying it. I hear more from the intake at WOT (and half throttle, too) and what seems to be the BOV at upshifts. Definitely a great idea to have a reuseable filter, too. Just stock up on the cleaner/oil kit!

If you are looking to get some better preformance without spending hundreds of dollars this K@N Air filter is for you. It is easy to install and gives your car some more punch. You will notice better pickup and in my case with a stick shift I feel that my shifting from 1st up through 3rd is a bit smoother. You can hear the air passing through it as well.

Used one of these on my WRX and now using one on my Legacy GT. Extremely simple to install and just clean every 15k or so and you're good to go!

I can't attest to better breathing, as I modified my intake as well. But I seem to have more power and a nice sound accelerating. I'd buy one again.

Pros:

Noticable increase in acceleration and some mpg without too much noise.
|
|
Cons:
|
None, really. It's K&N.

I got this free from work when a customer didn't want it on their car and threw it in my LGT to give it a shot. The engine definitely breathes more easily and acceleration seems to have stepped up a notch.
For people who want a noticable increase in performance but don't want to sacrifice the stock airbox or your wallet; this is a nice addition.

cleaning can be a hassle, noticeable wear after first clean.

Bought LGT used, when i did my personal inspection, I opened up the airbox and to my surprise I found the K&N (dirty as can be). So I took it out, shook out all the debris, rushed to Auto Zone, and got the cleaning kit $14.99 and got to work. I degreased the filter twice(thats how dirty it was), and when i oiled it you're suspose to let it lube thourghly by spraying ONLY one side, So all in all I let it sit all night, next day dropped it in and after a few runs, really noticed a difference!!!

I think its an exelent choice if your looking for improvement that you can install or "tune" by yourself, no warranty issues. you just get rid of the stock air filter.... and your k & n stock replacement is ready to install... I think it's a "must buy" if you have stock air filter, for any car (of course you'll need a diferent size in another car, but just go to http://www.knfilters.com/ and you'll find the one apropiate for your car or just ask at your local parts dealer
