Description:
|
The AVO Down Pipe (or Front Pipe) is constructed from high-grade stainless steel, ensuring longevity along with great looks. It also features our special cast iron outlet which incorporates a splitter to deflect wastegate gases thereby improving turbo spool up.
Together with our High flow C.A.R.B-approved catalytic converter we now offer the worlds most potent 'EMISSIONS LEGAL' Legacy GT Turbo downpipe combination.
The high-temp cast outlet removes a major bottleneck present on the factory exhaust system with it's large bellmouth design with splitter for the wastegate. A stock exhaust flange simply has a blank plate at the wastegate, putting a major lid on performance.
Your stock down pipe also uses one or two fairly restrictive catalytic converter(s).
The AVO front pipe addresses this issue with a single high-flow sports catalytic converter.
All this adds up to a huge decrease in back pressure and a big increase in performance. Use your turbo to it's full potential!
This down pipe fits USDM Domestic Market models only.

Out of the box I was very impressed with the overall quality. The welds were nice as well as the materials used. I was also pleasantly surprised that the bellmouth had a spot for a wideband o2 sensor. Shipping time aside I was happy with the product until I tried to install it. The cast bellmouth design makes it impossible to use sockets and get the proper torque. 4 out of 5 nuts had to be tightened with an open end wrench. Next the hole for the bracket halfway down the pipe was off by about a half an inch and I had to drill my own hole. Next I discovered the about a 1’ section of the pipe was in contact with the heat shield. I had to do some hammering and achieved about ¼” of clearance which is still less than what I would consider adequate. The o2 bung (for the ECU) was also off. I should be at about the 1 o clock position and it was at about 2 o clock so I wound up cutting a section of the heatsheild off to make room for the sensor to clear. Last the pipe is 3” the whole way and the adaptor to mate it up to the stock midpipe is a 2.5” flange that bolts up to the 3” flange with no taper whatsoever. Basically about half of the exhaust gas hits a wall before going into the midpipe. I purchased a 3” flange and 3” to 2.5” cone shaped reducer to help smooth out the exhaust flow.
