Description: Simply enough, the AVO380 LGT is a hybrid of the AVO420LGT compressor housing with a AVO 3-4 exhaust housing designed for the Legacy GT. This is one of the strengths of actually manufacturing our own ball-bearing turbochargers, as we can respond quickly to customer demand and engineer solutions in a relatively quick time. The combination was designed for a quicker spool than the AVO420 with good top-end power. There was also some right-sizing for customers wanting to maintain a stock fueling system. How fast does it spool? Well, as the chart below shows, with the right additional supporting modifications and an appropriate tune, it will spool faster than a stock car.

the second chart shows what most users will see as a pure bolt-in with the actuator at it's initial setting of 14psi. We achieved an easy, torquey 300/285 wheel hp/torque. So this is a very flexible ball-bearing turbocharger that will have a wide range of applications. It is worth mentioning here that the quicker spool is due to the smaller exhaust housing, which does have some downsides in comparison to the larger AVO420 exhaust housing. The larger housing has absolutely no issues with back pressure, while this smaller housing will possibly have issues with back pressure at higher boost levels. This is one of the trade-offs of having quick response vs. horsepower.

The AVO TMIC is perfect for this application, as it was specifically designed to be highly efficient up till 400 crank hp. The second chart we logged the boost from both sides of the intercooler to test the pressure drop. There was virtually no pressure drop up until about 6000rpm, where we logged a peak of 2psi drop. AVO has been designing intercooling systems for several decades, and knows exactly how to make the most efficient design necessary. In many match-ups in the past we've proved that size does not necessarily matter as much as efficiency, and these tests prove that. Or as they say, it's not how big you are, it's how well you use it.

Drive report: Sex on wheels? You don't get much better than this (until you get to the larger AVO turbochargers!). It is much like driving a big, naturally aspirated V6 - at least at low revs. Once you are past 3500rpm it gets wild and hairy *very* quick, and starts humping the redline faster than viagra-enhanced teenager on spring break. It comes in so much quicker than even the stock car with boost already hitting 12psi at 2500rpm. Now that is response!

Pros: Amazingly fast spool, great power!
Cons: Fitment for an "exact replacement" turbo

Do not let the cons of this product convince you not to buy this turbo, like most larger housing turbos things need to be clearanced, adjusted etc. This turbo rocks! With it being the smallest in the lineup it spools almost like a stock VF40, and holds booost all the way to redline. On a conservative tune I hit 300/314 to the wheels and have a lot more room to grow with a FMIC and an intake. The strangest thing about this turbo is it makes the car feel like it has a much larger displacement due to its smooth power increase, no more of that lag, lag, lag -OH CRAP HOLD ON! I highly recommend this product with the supporting modifications.
