Prodrive WR Sport Exhaust Review

just got my Prodrive cans from Fastwrx.com a couple days ago and installed them today. their service was great, and the shipping was FAST! i was so glad to get my hands on them, now that the whole Prodrive situation is up in the air. i was worried i wouldnt be able to source them.

price. at $599 they are less expensive than most other muffler set-ups out there. (they do not include Y pipe) and they DO fit the sedan and wagon.

quality. in typical Prodrive fashion (i dont know who makes these) the quality is top shelf. steel is high grade. welds are clean. the cans are beautiful and highly polished and the fit is PERFECT. they barely needed any centering or adjustment as the flanges and hangers are precisley alligned.

looks. originally i wasnt a fan of the oval tips. this is the reason i didnt buy the Prodrive muffler for my previous WRX. BUT, on the LGT, the oval tips seem to belong there. they blend well with the lines of the rear and as a more understated car, are a nice alternative to a 'round' grapefruit shooter. (my WRX had a 4.5" round tip) they also fill up the oval cutouts nicely because they are larger than the stockers. also, they dont stick out any more than stock. i almost wish they would so you can see the embossed logo. and i almost wish they came with the Y pipe because it hangs so low, its easy to see. i like the look of polished piping gleaming below the rear end. (my friends old S4 comes to mind. when i would follow him, my xenons would reflect and make his pipes shine and sparkle) i might get a COBB Y pipe or something... and from my research, this may cause the tips to stick out furthur.

sound. heres what i was worried about. i wanted it louder, as the LGT is waaaaaay too quiet. but again i want this car more stealth and its also my business vehicle. and my wife would NOT be happy with a loud exhaust on this car, she tolerated it on my WRX. upon startup the initial throttle blip greets you with the deep, smooth, mellow boxer rumble. THERE IT IS!! NOW I HEAR IT!! heres the interesting part... if you rev it or are driving and mash it WOT, it seems to be only marginally louder than at idle. definately noticeable, but definately still understated. doesnt go from mild to completely rediculous like my WRX did. (which i liked none-the-less) i would say its absolutely the PERFECT exhaust for the person that wants a straight thru design with some more rumble, but wants to avoid and drone or turning heads!
