So I decided I would start a journal to keep track of my car's life; where it all started, where/how it currently sits, and everything in between!
This is my third Legacy and the second turbo platform that I've owned. I bought this car from another user here on the forums who was the original owner. To give credit where credit is due, he did an excellent job maintaining this Spec.B and tastefully modding it(JDM spats, JDM trunk spoiler, JDM grille, cleared headlights, 07 Spec.b interior swap). When I bought it, it was bone stock as far as performance mods go.
After about 2-3 months of owning the car, it spun a rod bearing, and went under the knife for a full engine rebuild (thankfully this was all covered by the factory powertrain warranty). While the engine was out I did some maintenance, and a few upgrades as well: full 60K service including timing belt, water pump, all fluids, spark plugs, all filters replaced, and a clutchmasters fx300 clutch with OEM STI flywheel.
Here's a list of the mods on the car now:
V-Limited STI front lip
Toyota Celica projector fog lights retrofitted to OEM fog light mounts
Cleared headlights with 6k HIDs
JDM style front grille - mesh with the Subaru badge in the center
Front & rear JDM spats painted to match the car
JDM (replica I believe) trunk spoiler
"SpoilerKing" (eBay) rear window spoiler
Brake calipers painted gold (because I can't afford Brembos lol)
AEM dry-flo intake fliter (stock location)
Invidia catless downpipe
Invidia q300 catback exhaust
COBB Accessport - currently running "stage 2" map
Front & rear Stoptech street performance brake pads
Suspension/Wheels & Tires:
Fortune Auto 500 Series Coilovers with 10k/8k springs and radial bearing upgrade
Winter wheels - Rota Gravel 18x8 et48 w/ Goodyear Ultragrip Ice WRT 225/45/18 snow tires
Summer wheels - BBS CH 18x8.5 et30 w/ Goodyear Eagle F1 225/40/18 summer tires
Clutchmasters FX300 clutch kit - STI fitment
OEM STI flywheel
COBB Dual Adjustable short throw shifter
Perrin shift knob
07 Spec.B full interior swap (Black leather Bolster with Blue alcantara center)
Blue LED footwell lighting
From the get go this car had a lot of curb appeal, so with my old '07 LGT Limited pushing 100K miles, I couldn't resist upgrading to a car I had always dreamed of owning and with only 50K miles to boot!
Pics from the original "for sale" thread:
On the wrecker after she spun a rod bearing:
First mod I really did was the foglights:
My testfit of the BBS before I sent them out to be straightened and powder coated: (they look awful because of the tires and monster wheel gap)
First mod after the rebuild was the Invidia Q300 cat-back exhaust:
Next up was the front lip and rear window
Next was the long over-due and badly needed coilovers:
I'll note that I am very happy with the quality of these coilovers, but I do wish they had the ability to go lower. Not necessarily because I want to be that much lower, but because at this height the shock body is only about a quarter inch away from the outer axel boot and could tear it if the car flexes on uneven terrain... Wouldn't be the first time it's happened
You may have noticed, no pics of the BBS CH wheels yet. I'm still waiting on getting those back from powder coating.
