LOTS on info here: http://www.crucialracing.com/products/coolsafe_special.php
^^^ that's the special page with the "colder weather is on the way" crazy-low [Priority] shipped price of $45.85 !
Sales slow down when summer ends, so hopefully this will give them a kick in the butt! I've run mine through two winters in Spokane, WA where temps get down into single digits with no problems... just switch back to a 50/50 ratio if you see under ~ 40 degree temps during the winter months and everything will be as it should be! And of course, the difference during hot weather is HUGE, regardless of your level of modification. These are really popular in most of the serious setups on here, on most cars with aftermarket radiators, and on the shop cars of many of the highly respected tuners in the country !
Anyway, get them while they're hot and the weather isn't

Question: I put on a 165 in my old Camaro and while it ran great in the summer (less detonation), the winters sucked big time because the coolant never got very warm, thus, less heat. Will this be a problem on this thermo.

If you switch back to a 50/50 mixture with no Water Wetter it will be fine. As mentioned I've been through some very cold winters with it. It takes a touch longer for the car to reach full operating temp and get hot air through the vents, but it does get hot air. If you continue to run a summer 30/70 coolant/water ratio plus WW though, you'll never get hot air

so just so i'm clear. I live in Baltimore,MD and we see single digits too, and below 0 with windchill. With this I'd run a 50/50 water/coolent in the winter and 30/70 in the summer? Would I really have to, i'm lazy.
Also, I didn't change the ratio at all last winter...don't even know what mixture the factory puts in. Anyone know?

From the factory it's 50/50. That's your standard mix. You absolutely don't have to change it come summer, it just works better. Coolant does nothing to help cool your car, despite the name. It has three functions: keeping the water from freezing, lubricating the water pump, and inhibiting corrosion. Water Wetter does an even better job than coolant at lubricating and preventing corrosion. Plus using distilled water pretty much nixes a lot of the corrosion and all of the deposit potential. Anyway, going a higher percentage water and lower percentage coolant truly makes a huge difference in how efficient the system is and how cool it runs.
In the winter this means it stays too cold.... 50/50 with no WW works fine. You can run it year round if you want with no problems whatsoever, whereas I would not recommend running 30/70 or 25/75 during the winter unless you like to wear heavy parkas in your car

I'm not really sure... probably for a while though as T-Stat sales tend to slow down when the weather turns...

Done @ home
place drip pan (I used a new oil drain pan 8qt) under lower rad hose loosed clamp & remove.
For mixing I used an empty 2 gallon water dispenser & poured in 2 bottles of watter wetter * then did the 60/40 mix.
Not exact but pretty close

can you tell if your car runs that much better/faster? (i'm guessing summer time is when we will see a difference)

Yeah I pre-mixed mine in a gallon jug since you're never quite sure how much the radiator is going to take. 1/3 coolant, 2/3 distilled water, plus I used most of a bottle of Water Wetter. It'll take that whole first gallon so you whip up a second one with no Water Wetter (I think a full bottle is more than enough ) and pour it in until full.
Made a 20* difference in my max coolant temps under hard driving during the summer.....

hahaha, muscle car guy, eh? I know, everyone is used to spending like $7 for a t-stat for that Chevy 350.
$45 makes ours the least expensive aftermarket Subaru thermostat on the market. Zero Sports charges over $100 for them.
Welcome to an import . It's a good deal and a good t-stat, I assure you. It also has a lifetime warranty... the only one on the market that does. Do some research and come back and tell me it's a bad deal.
Jeremy
Additionally -- since when do moderators trash talk in the threads of paying vendors? I would NEVER put up with that on my site.
