SubLo
OK guys. Our m33ts are teh SUX! SUX big, big, big when they do go on every millennium or so. The SQC guys, LISC peeps, LEGO: West, Mid-Atlantic, etc. are putting us to shame with their activities! Us Yankees (sorry Boston ) need to stand up and show our colors! I propose an all out Barbecue towards the end of this month on a Sunday while the weather is still nice. The 23rd or 30th look good. Harriman State Park, Bear Mountain, Alley Pond Park all seem BBQ friendly. Any interest??? Edit: Starting List: Edit: Sep-14-07 Location Update: Edit: Sep-15-07 Final Location Update: September 23rd, 2007 12:00 Noon Tri-State End of Summer BBQ!! W00t! Location will be Lake Tiorati at Harriman (click) - the parking lot/picnic area at the information circle. Place is huge and beautiful (see pics below). If nothing else, the twisties in the park are really fun! It's a good 10 - 15 minutes of twisties to get to the lake once you enter the park! http://www.nyccs.net/images/lgt/harriman/6.JPG POST OR PM ME WHAT YOU WILL BE BRINGING PLEASE! PayPal me $10 or $20 if you'd like to contribute instead of or in addition to bringing something (there are no sponsors here! ). SpamSucksBIGOLBURB@GMAIL.com NEEDED: Peeps to bring: meat, coolers w/drinks, snacks, radio, football/frisbee/soccer-ball, etc. Step up folks. WE NEED DEFINITIVE YESES AND FOLKS TO BRING NEEDED STUFF or THIS WILL BE CANCELLED. In spite of my better judgment and experience with other club BBQs, I'm gonna just post the location publicly and see how this one goes as a precedent to future BBQs and to encourage as many Leggy owners to come as possible. Your contribution will go towards burgers, dogs, chips, drinks, ice, plates, utensils, etc. I WILL REFUND your dough if it's not needed. Cars, burgers, dogs, drinks, car smack talk, err... babes?, football, music, blaa blaa blaa. What could be better? Certainly not standing around in the blistering sun tanning our scalps in the Palisades Mall parking lot with no place to pee !!! GF's. BF's, Wives, Husbands, Kids are all welcomed! Bring 'em! Attendees may want to PayPal $10 or $20 to defray food and other costs + everyone should bring something. Any leftover funds not used will be returned. whitetiger
Hell yeah. For this to work though. someone needs to take a leadership role in planning and insuring that this, in fact, will be somthing worthwhile.

The way SQC does it is (1) by invite and (2) BY DEPOSIT and (3) everyone brings something. The events are awesome! Cars, burgers, desserts, BEER, boom box, cars, guys and girls, photo-ops, RIBS!!!, etc. There's no reason why we can't do it. I'll be glad to organize it if there's interest. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...
Guest JessterCPA
Sounds great. I would suggest just for pure liability purposes, no beer, but that's just me. Jesse

NOTATURBO
no beer...especially if minors show up....(easy way to get it shutdown and/or get locked up) plus if someone gets drunk and then drives, we could all get fizzucked... but either way I'm in for Alley Pond or wherever
SubLo
no beer...especially if minors show up....(easy way to get it shutdown and/or get locked up) plus if someone gets drunk and then drives, we could all get fizzucked... but either way I'm in for Alley Pond or wherever There's no reason not to have beer for adults. I've been to many car BBQ's where we had beer, wine, sangria, etc. with no issues. It's not a corporate sponsored event. Any liability for you [anyone] acting the idiot is your own just as if you walked into a bar, over did it, got into your Leggy and mowed down a family. If you want to act like an idiot and raise hell, yeah. You'll attract attention and get shutdown. That's true of any venue. You don't have to drink if you don't want to nor should you provide booze to minors in ANY situation if they're not your own kids. That's just stupid. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

Yes. I'm well aware having been a bartender for 8 years in NYC and Miami. This is a BBQ we're talking about BYOB for the most part - not a bar selling alcohol. If you don't want to drink, don't drink - simple. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

SubLo
The parks I'm thinking of have lots of grass by the lots. So, we can do football, frisbee, soccer, etc. really easily. Don't forget, Whitetiger will be doing installs in the parking lot  ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...

SubLo
So here's the deal if I'm going to organize this (more then happy to)... Pick a date. Let's say September 23rd at noon. I'd start a new thread with the date or get the title of this one modified, keep the first post listed with Board names and real first names of members that are gonna show up along with what each person is bringing - yup. Furthermore, I'd get a deposit (maybe PayPal)from each person to make sure they showed and also to defray costs like ice, charcoal, burgers, bread, paper, trash bags, etc. Somewhere between $10 - $20 I think would be appropriate. If there weren't enough peeps, deposits would be refunded. I'll send each depositor (lol - evil pun comes to mind) an email with the location so we don't have non-paying non-gift-bearing crashers. Well, there has to be interest. I'm certainly interested. As I said before, other boards I'm a member of do this with great success and it's tons of fun. ________________________________________________ '05 BSM OBXT Row-your-own, W.I.P. '06 Shrek B # 64 - The car the wife loved to hate :( Sold...
