My catalytic converter gave up the ghost after 106K miles on my '05 2.5i Ltd.
I've searched around for any definitive opinion on going with an OEM or aftermarket unit. It seems the recommendations against going aftermarket are more prevalent but a new OEM CC is about $800.
What's the risk of going with an aftermarket CC? Will I fail inspection? Will the CEL stay lit?
I brought the car to a shop after getting a code showing a lean condition and they replaced the MAF sensor, but I backed off immediately replacing the CC. Otherwise, I have no idea why the CC failed.
