Car over a year old - flush the clutch hydraulic system

Recommended Posts

Auto transmission owners - you are obviously lost so go read another thread :)

It is cheap and easy. RC0032 and I did both of our cars today.

1. Remove intercooler

2. Top off clutch reservoir

3. attach tube to bleeder on slave cylinder

4. push clutch pedal to the floor

5. open bleeder

6. Pull clutch pedal back up

7. Repeat until you have run fluid through the system and no more air bubbles come out - it is just like bleeding brakes but easier and you can do it without a helper (which is sort of like having RC0032 around  ).

It will not make a night and day difference, but it does improve clutch feel and the fluid does absorb water - it is brake fluid after all.

Bit my tongue a laughed so hard. Then I realized how close to home it hit! So which one of you is Moe and which one is Larry? Can I be Curly?

Great advice, anyone with clutch or brake fluid that has gotten dark (it should be a very clear yellow) should get them flushed/bled.

Same goes for the Power Steering fluid, if it's no longer pink (as it is ATF) it should be flushed...

Helps with performance, and prevents problems down the road.

More like Patrick and Sponge Bob

Actually we are brothers and live at home with our parents http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/rotflmao.gif

Opie - good call on the power steering fluid - that is even easier to do.

I actually figured it was more of a Randy and Lahey type deal.
