So a few weeks back I threw a CEL in my 08 LGT and my AP told me it was a P0037 HO2S Heater Control Circuit Low (Bank 1 Sensor 2). After looking into this with my friend the dealer told me the Subaru OEM part # was 22690AA85A. The sensor is located in the downpipe towards the end where it meets the exhaust. As you can see by the pic below my Indivia catted DP you can see where the sensor goes. The part is made by Denso and the part # for my 08 LGT is 234-4732 (downstream). If you want to see what part # you should get for your car please check out this link below.

The reason my sensor went bad was because the wire wripped where it goes into the sensor. I was told by my tuner I did not need to replace the sensor however since I am anal and i found out it does more than one job I decided to replace it.

The change was easy I am sorry I dont have how to pics but I do have some pics and information below so if you throw this code you have some information. I highly suggest renting/buying a O2 sensor socket/tool from your local auto parts store it was free to rent.

My Invidia DP

My old sensor (notice the black wire)

Denso w/ Subaru part #

How did you go about actually changing it? Any tips, other than renting the tool?

Since the DP is in the middle of the car you need to jack the car up pretty high on one side if you do not have a lift. I jacked up both sides as it was easier for me to fit under the car that way. The wire itself is snaked/fed behind the heat shield but its not a long wire so its easy to work with.

Also rent the tool that looks like a wrench not the socket style its much easier and I lucked out getting the wrench style tool.

Just found this thread...

I bought a O2 sensor socket years ago. Well worth the $8.00 or so. I also wrap a hose clamp around it to keep it from spreading when in use.

I just replaced the orginal front O2 sensor in the 05 with a after market one from Carquest Auto parts. I called around and was getting lead times of weeks. These guy's had one at the store in 2 hours.
