Something I found in the bumper while clearing my headlights today....

So while I had my front bumper off I noticed this on the inside .....

As you can see on the inside of the bumper directly to the left of the fog light on the right side there is a small circular port of some sort. This only appears on the passenger side which happens to be the same side as the Airbox. In the last pic you can see on the front of the bumper there is a removable cover that is associated with the back port assembly.

 

I have a few questions regarding this port being used as a Ram Air / CAI.

 

A) Is this port well known on this forum as being used for an air intake.

 

B) I have an '07 GT, is this found on '06s and '05s??

 

C) Is there an SPT intake that uses this port??

 

D) Has anyone else noticed this ???????? And has anyone done a DIY with it?

 

 

Im thinking of starting a DIY intake on this, I have removed the silencer, so all I would really have to do is use the existing hole in the bottom of the air box, and attach some HVAC piping to it, then remove the cover on the bumper and make some sort of stone guard over it (probably same material I used on my DIY grille).

 

I think it would look pretty badass and indeed functional, what are your thoughts??? Thanks.

Thats like a Bummer dude, but im sure it can still be used for an Intake.

Its funny that it has a pipe fitting on the inside too. Im gonna do it and never have my car towed

It can also be retrofitted for a missile launcher.

yep the passanger side fog light. there is a small pannel towords the center of the bumper next to the fog light. you can remove the pannel with the suplied phillips/flathead screwdriver by your spare tire by prying it off at the notch. you can then get the tow hook that is also by your spare tire and screw it in to the threaded part of your bumper. vola!!! tow hook

 

oh and check out the "the silly thing i just noticed about my car thread" or something to that affect. you may be surprised!

Seriously though, it would be a neat little modification, thanks for the serious responses, and THIS ISNT OVER w00000.

That hole is about 1/2". Not gonna get much air through their to use as a CAI. Not to mention the car comes stock with a snorkel which IS a CAI.

Im not gonna use a garden hose as a cold air intake, the hole is not 1/2" its at least 2 inches, and can be coupled with much bigger piping.
