Apexcone Premium 4500K HID Kit

Hey Guys, here are some pictures of my Apexcone premium HID kit (4500K) I got them from xenonexpert.com

My review. They are really good for an aftermarket HID, but of course not as good as OEM.

**Full Review**

I am not into the whole bling lighting so when I looked into getting HIDs, the whole purpose was to increase the lighting output. I was VERY satisfied with the Oem lighting, I just wanted to go a bit further.

I went for The Apexcone Premium kit because of their stated lumen output, which is supposedly better than oem, also their lifetime warrenty did hurt my purchasing process either.

I purchased the Apexcone Premium 35 watt 4500k kit. When I first installed the kit and turned on the lights at night, i immediately thought that lights made everything brighter. The color of the light was defenitly better looking than the stock ones. When I turn on my fogs, they look yellow in comparison to the HIDs.

After a month of useage I started to notice the little hashes of black light that appeared on the driver side light. I searched around and found that this was because of the notch placement on the LGT projecter clashes with the notch of the Apexcone bulbs. But this can be solved my simply cutting off the notch.

As per apexcone's claim of better output than oem systems, I would definetly say no. Whenever I pass or get passed by someone on the freeway with oem hids (especially land rovers) their ouput is just that much better. The color of the OEM hids are also seem to be a more of a pure white (look below at the porsche hids).

I think that apexcone's hids are the best aftermarket option. But you still can not compare with the oem systems out there. If I was to do this all again, I would get the race kit in 5000k

Actually a Legacy issue. The way the projector is made, you need to rotate the HID bulb off a bit from where they normally would go to get rid of the shadow at the bottom. Any H7 HID bulb that you don't do this too in the legacy projectors will do that.

The notch on the legacy housing is at the 8 o'clock position and when you fit an HID bulb in to match the notch, the HID rod is faced toward the 2 o'clock position. Because of the rod facing the 2'oclock position, there is a dark spot where the light shines at the 8 o'clock position. In order to prevent any darkspot, the rod has to face down at the 6'oclock position. :)

I just installed my kit and I'm getting a 'bi-level' effect where the lower level is quite bright, with a darker, shorter level above that. Does this have anything to do with the tab alignment issue? I don't really see this issue in your pics. Guess I need to post pics - I'll try to do that tonite.

Mines - I think Apexcone is having quality control issues - I too recieved their hids around Christmas and here is what I 1st recieved.

They send me a second set of bulbs and one of the new set was almost as pink - but the other one in the new set matched the right side here (good side) I would have them send you another set of bulbs - this should not be acceptable for the 4500.

Also - for those of you that want to get rid of that shadow, I did what was suggested and put the bar at the bottom - here is before and after shots as well as a couple shots of the end product - I Hope it helps some of you out there as this shodow really detracted from why I bought them. I really think Apexcone could look at addressing this in future bulb runs.

Just thought I'd chip in:

I sold my 4500k Apexcone kit. They were bright, but IMO 65W Osrams are better...not a brighter, but better color & aim - same brightness.
