Ok, not sure where to post this as I can't find any forums specifically related to experiences with Subaru dealerships (good or bad). If there is such a forum, Moderator please relocate this for me?.
Just wanted to alert folks out there to be aware of possible bad service and sales shenanigans at Adventure Subaru located in Painesville, Ohio. My daughter bought her Forester there last year and had a pretty decent buying experience at the time. However, as happens frequently with dealerships, there was a "changing of the guard", so to speak, and a new service manager was employed when my daughter took her vehicle in for a quick oil change in February. Her quick oil change turned into a high pressured sales pitch with scare tactics to get her to agree to almost $1,000 worth of repairs!! Luckily she had the sense to tell them no, she just wants her oil changed and she would think about the repairs. They took over 2 hours to do the simple oil change, while still pressuring her to let them do the repairs. She finally got her vehicle and left very upset. She called me and sent me pics of the list of supposed repairs they claimed were "Life threatening". I was a certified mechanic for almost 18 years, and performed all the maintenance on her vehicle up to this oil change. She just thought she could get it changed on her lunch break and cut me some slack for once, since there was no other maintenance required at the current mileage. So when I read the list of items they claimed were in dire need of repair, I was livid!! They claimed her brake pads were grinding metal to metal, air filters plugged and could cause her to need an engine replacement, and the best one: "Alignment Maintenance".....WTF is that? Either your vehicle needs an alignment or it doesn't!!! There are many ways to inspect for the need of a 4 wheel alignment without putting it on the machine and her vehicle passed with flying colors...no need of any alignment. Needless to say, she will never go back to that dealer again. I have since been looking at reviews and news regarding this dealer, and thought you should be very wary of them. They have gone downhill very quickly, and even made the local news when they attempted to pull a shady deal on a customer involving the misuse of his brand new WRX. Here is one link to that issue (if I'm allowed to link..not sure?): http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2698393
Anyhow....buyer beware!!! Note: Adventure Subaru of Arkansas not related in any way.
