I got the call earlier today that the part I have been waiting on to get the driveshaft rebuilt should be in today or tomorrow, so I thought I'd get to work taking out the driveshaft today. I've taken the exhaust off and drained the oil in the tranny and the rear diff, but I have never removed a driveshaft before so I don't really know what I'm doing. I see a lot of bolts and before I start randomly taking them off I thought I'd ask for some help.
I took some pictures of the bolts I can see and if someone knows which ones I have to undo and what I have to do to get the driveshaft out that would be much appreciated
Well it's out. Fingers crossed that the shop can find something wrong with it and fix said problem because I can't find anything wrong with it. There's no play in the joints and everything turns smoothly
The shop I took it to showed me that there was next to no play in the shaft and it the carrier bearing turned just fine. The mechanic there told me to put it back in because it most likely wasn't the problem.
FWIW, changing the tranny oil and rear diff oil made the shifting smoother but didn't really fix the lash. Did changing the tranny mount make any improvement to the jerkyness?
