I am about done with the maintenance stage of my car setup, so my next step is going to be the suspension/steering. I've decided on Bilsteins and Group N bushings for most everything I can. I dont want to mess with the Koni's. I dont know what springs I want tho, want to make sure I dont miss anything when I do it, and have questions about alignment. The car (MY05 LGT Sedan) is my daily driver, but I do enjoy 'spirited' driving, and lowering is not important. Colorado isnt the best place to drop it low.
For the front Bilsteins I know i need the Spec.B top hats - from my reading JDM is essentially the same right? Anything else special I should know about installing them?
Swifts, Pinks, Progressive, OEM - Im not 100% sure of the performance differences. What are things I should pay attentionto while driving to help determine what springs I may want? Is this really that big of a choice?
I took it in for alignment and
LF Camber 0.0, Caster 6.2, toe +.29
RF Camber -.5 Caster 5.7 toe .46
LR Camber -.8 Toe .03
RR Camber -.9 Toe .11
LF Camber -.1 Caster 6.2 Toe 0.0
RF Camber -.3 Caster 5.7 Toe 0.0
LR Camber -.7 Toe .01
RR Camber -.8 Toe .03
I had requested 0 Toe all around, Front Camber at 1 and Rear camber at .6 (in case they knew how to fudge it). I assumed they would have made the caster match because I asked for "zero split, zero cross, make them even." - I guess .5 split is OK, but not what I'd like. As I wrote this I realized they confused -1.0 with -0.1, so a little bummed about that - but what about my splits? How much of a difference is worth having them adjust it for? Any suggestions for my alignment? Its what I decided on as a starter from reading the FAQ. The FAQ didnt recommend a caster setting however. I know the camber bushings wont be big for me, but because im replacing bushings anyway, why not add the adjust ability right?
Going to get the rear done first, and then head to the front. While I'm up there im going to replace tie rod ends, ball joints, and whatever else I can get at without too much fuss. Is there one brand that is best for a reason or am I good to get Mevotechs? I've read there are components that "fix" handling issues, but Im not sure whats just snake oil vs legit and should get.
Any help or suggestions much appreciated! Thanks
