Let me start by admitting my utter ignorance when it comes to transmissions. Any idiotic assumptions/statements made by me regarding such can attributed to said ignorance.
With that said, I'm starting to get a whine which, in searching this fine forum, has lead me to think the TOB is going to need replaced. Soon. The car is still on the stock clutch (140k miles) and is stock except for a Cobb Stage 1 tune and upgraded brakes. Its a daily driver and I take it relatively easy on it. Mostly.
I was thinking if the TOB is going is this a good time to replace the clutch (as its not going to last forever). Good idea? I would like to keep things stock to avoid headaches but I was wondering if I could upgrade to a different flywheel (like the 06 WRX SMFW) to perk things up a bit. Researching has shown that if I want to do this, I would need to go with a clutch for an 07-09 Legacy to match the larger flywheel. Is this right? And going to the lighter flywheel would have some different effects in terms of idle and driveability when getting started, right?
Fred Beans has OEM clutch kits for the 05 and for the 07-09 (assuming I still want to go to the upgraded flywheel). But it also has kits with the TSK3 included. Is this recommended for a Stage 1 car like mine or is that for higher power applications?
Excuse all my questions and thanks in advance for any answers.
