2005 Outback XT ~150k
I removed pistons, cleaned them up & checked rings. Good.
New headgaskets, t-belt, water pump.
New seals & gaskets everywhere etc. (Re-used manifold gaskets, they were still in good shape.
I never took off injectors and they have 150k on them. I have a buddy with some DW850cc's that I can get if that turns out to be the issue.

I was having a horrible 1-4 cyl misfire, I put the resistor in EGT and misfire went away and smoothed motor out. I still have a little miss here and there but no CEL.
Here are some issues I am having:
1. Fuel pump is working but I am unsure how well. When driving, there is a small spool up from the turbo then it is fuel cut sound, like popcorn with no power. What is the final word on fuel filters and pumps? I have a Walbro sitting in the garage I could throw in if need be.
2. Car only starts if I let it sit for awhile. If I run the car for a long time, turn it off and restart it will turn over and just die. It takes many attempts to get it running on its own. I have a strong feeling this is in relation to numero uno.
I believe vacuum is good, I will confirm once I get my scan tools up and running.
I don't currently have a tune but from my past subaru's setup's the ECU shouldn't have that much of an issue figuring this out to at least build some boost. Best opensource tunes for these cars? Don't wanna spend the big bucks on a protune yet until I know its running right.
