Yep, my Tail lights. its pretty easy, somewhat like clearing your head lights.

1. no need to remove your rear bumper just 2 small pop rivits and 2 9mm bolts to get the lights off.

2.twist out the 3 bulbs.

3. preheat your oven to 450' and bake your lights for 33 minutes. this will get the yellow paint inside the light to just melt out. 33 min. is key cause if you go longer your lights will catch on fire! (thats not good).

4. remove from oven and dump out the liquid yellow (dont drink it though)and you will be left with a clear lens.

5. reinstall and you'll be bling and have about 10 more HP. its TRUE!

sorry, that above post is not tooootaly true. heres what actually happened...
down helpin my mom out around the yard and house (mowing, chainsawing, pressure washing, tractoring). racing through the garage one time i noticed something..."are those tail light blinkers clear...yes, they are" i said to myself.

hmm wonder if they will fit on my car. YES THEY did.

so what you have to do is make your mom buy a 09' outback and steal her tail lights...that easy. well almost. the plug that holds the bulb for the blinker has 2 tabs shifted a bit. you just need to use a knife to cut them out. took all of 10 mins. other than that its a perfect fit.

heres the doner car and the view from her car looking down at mine...you know how high those Outback's sit.
ciao

Dammit, I've been thinking about doing this for a few months (ever since the LEDs in my Hanabis started going bonkers and I've been too lazy to fix them ). Gonna tint the clear part? That's what I'd do

Looks good!

The temp is clearly that high because you have to melt the yellow out. I'm surprised that it went that easy. I set my oven temp too high and mine did catch on fire. Now they have a smoked look to them.

Tracer - NICE! Did you use alder or cedar chips to smoke your tails?

I can't speak for Tracer, but I prefer mesquite for my tails.

I was actually short on $$ so I just used some left over sawdust form a neighbors hamster cage. I think that is another reason that they caught on fire. I was too embarrassed to say it in the first place.

homegrwn97, I think we know what you used to smoke your tails!!! They have that distinct 'home-grown' smell!

I tried this, but I suck at following instructions.

My dad really likes his new Legacy GT sedan though.

Did you buy him a LGT sedan for Father's day???? You should invite him to the meats! Well, maybe not.

Actually, he bought it himself a few months ago. At some point I will borrow the car and bring it back 'stage 2' but he needs to put some more miles on it before I throw away his warranty.

I'll invite him to a meet at some point, too.
