The elements are underneath a blacked-out portion of the windshield (obviously, where the wipers sit when at rest). If you look carefully enough, you can find a tiny orange circle near the passenger-side wiper. I was able to see the elements on my '12 after some really, really careful looking with certain lighting conditions. (I say "was" because I've since replaced my windshield and can no longer see them).
Also, if you have heated seats/mirrors, then you have a heated windshield. All three are part of Subaru's cold-weather package.
If you're still not sure, the best way for you to check is to wait for some ice or light snow to accumulate on the windshield, turn off your climate control, and turn on your rear defroster. The snow/ice should melt where the wipers reside.
