Gang -
Question: Has anyone painted the chrome on their stock grille to match the body color of their car? If so are there pictures (bonus points if of a lighter colored car)?
I got my 2010 LGT used about a year and a half ago. I love the car overall and I'm fine with the styling, with the exception of the truck-like grille.
I know many people have painted the chrome black with Plasti-cote but that seems to be too dark for me and my car (light silver). I was thinking of trying to paint it gray, then the body shop guy I use suggested painting it body color to match the car (IE - same light silver).
Big concern with painting would be chips. They use a flexible primer and multi-step paint process including clear coat so hopefully it will be fairly durable.
Let me know what you think......
- Mark

I painted mine with Sherwin Williams Automotive rattle can. Supposedly it was color matched but wasn't a 100% match......
It was chipping like crazy so I kept the surround SSM and Plasti-Dipped the center wing....

My local body shop wanted $350 with NO guarantee of it staying one color in the least bit. I of course immediately passed on that.

The guy quoted me $150, they've done some other things for me throughout the years and have been ok - at that price I'm almost willing to gamble on it.
Thx for those pix Rail!

In the Official Satin White Pearl Thread there is a SWP car with the grill surround painted body color. Also there are a couple RRP cars (blklgt05 is the best example I can think of) with this done.
You can have a local auto body supply shop mix you up some color and put it in rattle cans. I was going to do this if/when I need to cuz it's pretty cheap. My color is a 3 stage paint and it will cost about $80.

I was thinking about that too....Railkill, maybe applying transparent Plastidip on top of that SSM colour, using it as some sort of protective cover against chips ?
Just throwing in ideas..what do You think ?

I would like to try that clear plastidip. I haven't seen it applied anywhere yet so I can't really say what it would look like. Its a good idea nonetheless.

@ max6spd: Very nice look - and yes Gire, the galaxy blue was also my favoured colour when shopping for the car (but in the end it came up to a SSM they had in stock, at Euro 5000,- less )
Curious about that black thing You have above Your license plate - is that a front camera maybe ?

THX for the pix guys! The blue one looks great. Also of course the all blacked out look on the black one.
Just curious, any thought on painting the black wire mesh silver to match as well? The all black one kind of gave me that idea.
