Hello, All! I'm a total car guy who has a just-about to be licensed son who is a total Subaru nut. About 7 or 8 weeks ago, I ask him "what kind of Subaru do you want?" He says: "a 98 or 99 Legacy 2.5 GT Wagon 5-speed" We look a little and find nothing. I work at a Honda dealer, about a week later a mystery car shows up on the lot- you guessed it, a 98 Legacy 2.5 GT Wagon! Long story short, we were able to buy it, and it's really cool! I really like the way it drives and shifts, and of course the boxer throb! We're in!

Nice...you have a very sensible son...My son (just turned 17) and I are working on modding an 05 Forester XT...lowered on WRX struts, with a vf-39/sti topmount...PDXtune...rolling on 18x8.5 Rota Grids with 255/40/18 Nitto Invo tires...oh, of course it has to have some noise...Invida catless dp with a Borla Hush CBE...he's happy.
Subaru's are awesome cars...2 of our 3 (wife still can't give up her Honda...) cars are Subaru's...Can't get the wife to switch from Honda...although she drives the FXT whenever she can...
:O

Thanks, the Subaru has a quirk, when you beat on it at WOT, it whistles like a turbo from 4-6K Is this a Subaru thing? It seems to have plenty of power.

Hey, that's me! Here are some pictures of it:
I'll post more tomorrow, I waxed it and put on my Badge of Ownership this weekend, but it got too dark before I could take pictures.

Sounds like either a vacuum leak or intake tract...it's going to be hard to isolate unless you stuff someone in the engine bay at wot! Try to isolate the area and spray some soapy water on your engine while cold then quick take it for a spin...hopefully you will see some bubbles somewhere...

Thanks, I had not thought about a vacuum leak. Time to start poking around!
