I am now the proud owner of a 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5i base model with a 5-speed manual transmission. Coming from Honda/Acuras I never gave Subarus much thought. Well, long story short, I sold my RSX in at Christmas time due to a wrecked 3rd gear syncro that I didnt want to deal with. I was looking for another Honda to replace it with and was leaning toward a 2007-2010 civic sedan. Then this beauty showed up on the Kijiji classified ads. I took it for a test drive and fell in love. I live in Calgary Alberta Canada and so I drive on slippery or snow covered roads for about half the year. I couldnt believe what I was missing. I've only had FWD cars with decent winter tires and I never knew what it was like to have a full-time AWD system. I can honestly say that I have seen the light, I'm already a Subaru fan-boy and I've only had the car 2 and a half weeks.
I just got back from a trip to Fairmont in the Rocky Mountains and I was quite impressed with the comfortable ride, great fuel economy (6.8L/100km), bright headlights, and decent factory stereo sound quality.
The car is in great condition inside and out. She could use a good power polish to make the paint pop and there are some minor stains in the interior that will need to be steam cleaned when the weather gets warmer. It has low kilometers for its age (89,500km) and I bought it from the original owner with all maintenance records. All the service is up to date and she won't need much until I put some more kilometers on her. I plan to give her an oil change at 90.000km and to seafoam the engine. This spring I will be changing all of the brake pads and rotors and buying some OEM Subaru rims to mount summer tires on.
I look forward to being a part of this forum and to share my 10 year knowledge of car ownership and mechanics with others.
