Stock tire size says 225/45/18 which puts the wheels at 8.8"...should I get 9" wide wheels or 8.5"? I am trying to keep the original tires...

I'll make it easy for you...are you okay with the sidewall being flush or do you wish for the wheel to bulge out like the tire is too small.

225/45/18 will fit very easily on an 18x8" rim. So an 8.5 is big enough.

Better yet, take it somewhere and have them do a dry fit for you.

shit, you're right, I was thinking 225/45/17

8" wide is plenty for a 225. Stock are either 7.5" or 8"

I have 225/45/18 on my 18x8 Raijin, click on my other post to see the pics. There is a slight stretch, I would rather run 235/45/18 if I were to pick again.

FYI...

225/45-18 is stock for a 5th gen Legacy GT & 2.5i S package in Japan...

Stock wheels - as below - are 18x7.5 +55

My DIT came with 225/45-18 Bridgestone Potenza RE-050A tires...
