hi all, I'm from the east bay and I'm thinking about powder coating my wheels. Does anyone have any recommendations here in the bay area that can do it for a good price? Any info or opinions would be really appreciated.

why would you sandblast prior to powder coating? you would make the surface of the metal uneven surface fort the paint to sit. I really dont know myself but from what ive heard you can just powdercoat directly over the original coat of paint without any problems.

My powdercoater sandblasts everything before he coats it. it really helps the powdercoat etch to the metal. there are different abrasives and grits to use like sand, media, walnut shells, and tons of others to make the raw metal rough or smooth or anything in between. everything ive had powdercoated comes out pefectly smooth. there are probably plenty of powdercoaters that don't blast before coating but thats kinda like having your car painted at maaco for 200 bucks.

It always seems to turn out fine. They actually have pretty good reviews.
